Grade: F.
BarWest was cool for about the first 6 months it opened after replacing the equally non-classy Margarita Rocks. Since then they haven't been able to get it right. They got downtown prices, rude staff, no cute girls, and a bunch of random weirdos that go there. I have no idea why anyone would pay cover for this place. All the cute girls are either downtown, or feel like having a casual night and frequenting a real "PB" bar.
PS. don't even think about having food here. I wonder what their monthly food revenue is.
The beach scene gets chic off Garnet with a stylish restaurant and lounge that caters to the downtown crowd..
In Short
Pacific Beach is getting a face lift, and a hefty dose of sophistication, as the nightlife gurus behind hot spots Stingaree and Sidebar bring their upscale brand of downtown style to the old Margarita Rocks building on Hornblend. The large (5000 sq. ft.) space features a slick restaurant serving California cuisine, a swanky lounge area with bottle service and a DJ booth perched above an intimate dance floor. Sidewalk seating completes the see-and-be-seen atmosphere.
