YOU CAN"T GO WRONG WITH ANYTHING on THE MENU.
I am very picky when it comes to handing out ratings, but Bread & Cie takes the cake, hands down. Like the guy stated in the previous review, there is not one thing on the menu that is not absolutely FABULOUS. Everything on the menu from the food to the desert and the breads are great.
My girlfriend and I occasionally drive down to San Diego from LA for work and are in town for 3-4 days at a time. Bread & Cie is frequented about 80-90% for our meals. And it is not because we don't know of other places to eat. It is SIMPLY the BEST.
The bread is definitely on par with the bread in FRANCE always fresh and exactly the way it is suppose to taste.
Great Cafe, Great Bread..
I'm one of those people who has one favorite item off of a menu in each of the restaurants I frequent. Bread and Cie is one of those acceptions - I love everything on the menu! Their sandwiches, soups, desserts, pastries, and their breads are all excellent. This is one of those rare places where you absolutely can't go wrong with anything you order.
My favorites are the chicken curry sandwich, the horseradish roast beef, and the cream of broccoli (not at all the heavy cream version, but one of the tastiest I've ever had). As for treats, the cheesecakes, the mini gallete, the croissants, and the eclaires are all incredible, and I've tried almost every single bread they bake and every one of them is tastier than the next. Their seedy multi-grain makes the best turkey sandwiches, their baguettes make awesome paninis, their rolls are perfect for our steak sandwiches, their challah make the perfect french toast, and their ciabatta adds the perfect touch to a pasta dinner.
This place never lets me down if I'm looking for a great lunch, a decadent coffee break, something special to bring to a dinner party, or something to accompany a nice homecooked meal during the week.

In Short
The unmistakable scent of fresh dough wafts constantly from this European-styled bakery, luring passing pedestrians into its spacious, art-adorned café. Racks of baked goods, chuck full of hunky walnuts or drizzled with imported cheese, are displayed right from the oven. Slip in during the afternoon for a focaccia sandwich or delectable scon. Either way, bread never looked so beautiful.
"LunchBox" is great for taking on airplane flights.
I've gotten into the habit of getting their lunch box: it has one of their outstanding sandwiches made with rustic bread, the lunch includes fresh fruit, lemon bread. Airline flights nowadays just don't have anything worthwhile eating...if they even have food at all; soda and peanuts!!
They are not far from the I-5 so it is really no trouble to swing by and get something that exceeds your standards for sandwiches...lunch boxes never tasted so good!!
