In Short – Far from a pretentious French haute, La Vache is Hillcrest's darling for French food with a casual flair. Wrapped in wine-colored velvet which complements its showcase of wines and intimate candle-lit tables, La Vache also maintains its country French motifs with a well-thought out menu, including escargots and bressane (snails and frog legs, respectively) are just as requested as the California Pizza and French Style Hot Dog. –
great food, vive la france

This place is awesome. The food is great and for being French it's not pricey. The service is good. They have a fixed price menu if you eat before 4 or so (call the place to be sure). You get a salad, choice of 3 entrees, and chocolate mousse for dessert. A great value at $18. You get bread and butter with your meal. And crayons to draw on the paper tablecloth. The last time I came here I got the tomato soup and the house salad. The soup was very creamy, and the salad came with a big crouton with a blob of pungent cheese. So delicious. My friend got the chicken provencale pasta- which is a large portion. He let me sample it. It was good but I probably would have ordered something else. I'd recommend this place for quality French food and affordale prices.
