“The food, service, and ambience was excellent!”
“the decor is pretty amazing”
“they served the lassi in a plastic bowl - that's just WEIRD since it's a drink!”
“the ultimate leader in fine indian cuisine in usa?”
“great restaurant, great decor, friendly staff.”
“bombay, monsoon, masala disappointed me”
“very good food, excellent service”
“i also thought the food was overpriced for what.”
Stay far away, folks, is my best advice.
This is the worst place I've ever eaten at in my 73 years! Seriously!
First, the place is as fake as Netanyahu's smile: Loud disco music playing at the bar and blaring out over loudspeakers,a bogus "oriental" dancer who looked like she just came from a panhandling mission in Balboa Park, even sari-clad American girls from Hemet acting as "hostesses".
The cooks, by the way, are Mexican, not Indian, so you end up getting food that tastes more like a cross between Alpo dog food, carnitas, and someone's sick idea of what Indian food is (Stay away from the frozen, clumpy Chicken Tikka unless you want a serious case of nausea).
The ownership had a so-called sister restaurant across the street named "banana Leaf", which purported to offer Southern Indian cuisine; by the grace of the Good Lord, it recently closed down. Come to think of it, maybe this overpriced tourist trap will too as well.
Terrible & overpriced indian food.
I am compelled to review my last diner on 07/13/10 at Bombay, which was terrible. Several curry dishes were ordered for 100% indian customers from Delhi at the "indian spice" level. It was purely uneatable it was so hot, not spicy (=flavorful), just burn your mouth and melt your brain for no reason hot. My dish of chicken tandoori on the other hand, was tasteless, and with no exaggeration, so dry that in many instances I wondered whether I was eating the chicken (in very small amount) or the bones.
Service to top everything was very slow, and nothing was done to try to salvage our experience. The waitresses that day were not pleasant.
The only good were the room which is quite beautiful and the chapati which were also good.
Finally, everything was overpriced even if it had been eatable.
Bombay , Monsoon , Masala disappointed me.
Ugly step sisters Bombay, Monsoon and Masala are waste of money. I tried Bombay for Lunch buffet and thefood was totally garbage. Did not like the rubbery nan bread and the bland food was totally tasteless,
Then I received coupon in a magazine and tried Monsoon in down town I think that is totally ignored restaurant they have high chairs so you can not tell if the restaurant has any customers or not and would make it dark like a hounted house. The food is same quality when I complained about my food the manager who had no idea what Indian food is , he just appologized and said they are making some changes and next time it will be better and said we should try their other restaurant Masala on fifth avenue. While talking to my friends I asked them about masala and my friends told me if I wanted to have good Indian food I should try Royal India in down town and others are just waste of money.
I am going to try Royal India soon and cant wait to get some good Indian food.
I am just amazed at what super value The Monsoon Restaurant Group offers.
I should not say this but for offering such high class restaurants in excellent locations, I would be willing to pay alot more but I do love the value for money I get.
The service needs polishing up but apart from that, I give ten out of ten.
Amazing Drinks and Desserts too.
Bindi Drop, Tantratini and Tikka Mango shot me into a different planet.
Then to send me to heaven, I got Chocolate samosas.
Everyone needs to experience this.
Now I am a Monsoon Group fanaticccccc.
Congratulations on your twenty years of success. Also Congratulations to Ashley for being Awarded Top Indian Executive Chef of San Diego.
I have been a loyal guest since you first opened Kool Korner Cuisine and expanded. I dine at all of your restaurants and could never dine at any of your lousy competitors places. They are cheap looking, dirty and ugly with terrible food. I hate the one with the yellow awning, it looks like bagel store awnings etc. They have no class.
You guys are definitely have the best Indian restaurants in San Diego. Nobody even comes close.
NIce to dress casual in a classy place. Its so nice to dress casual in a classy place. Everything we ordered was very fresh and delicious. Ten out Ten. Thanks for giving me the laptop to write instantly.
BEST INDIAN EVER!!!. I thought I had experienced the best Indian restaurants in London and New York but I was totally wrong. Bombay Exotic just blew my mind when I saw it. Further to my surprise was the top notch food they prepared. They were packed so service was just slightly off. Today I was really proud to be an Indian. See you guys soon.
Great food... but take out customer service is seriously lacking.
Ordered food here twice - both times I gave ample time outside of the "your food will be ready in 20 minutes" by turning up 30-35 minutes later. Food wasn't ready(perhaps I waited too long??!), needed to wait for 15 minutes double parked on the curb (street parking is scarce) whilst the maitre d seemed confused and searched for a free waiter to "find" the order... the first time wrong entrees were given (didn't care at this point since I was starving) the second time the wait was extended to a good 20 minutes... they served the lassi in a plastic bowl - that's just WEIRD since it's a drink!
great food, but perhaps not worth ordering as take-out... it's certainly not their forte
In response to a struggling competitor.
The Executive team of the Monsoon Restaurant Group is shocked, dismayed and appalled to learn that one of our struggling competitors has curved to the levels of aggressive lunacy and has been disguising as one of our ex-employees and posting negative reviews in an impetuous effort to hamper the status of our culinary institutions.
We do not intend to indulge in this unethical and fraudulent attitude of our business rivals but instead continue focusing on the raising the bar for the quality of Indian food, unparallel ambiance and gracious service in USA along with exceptional standards of hospitality to all our Guests who have been very loyal to The Monsoon Group of Restaurants for decades.
A big Thank you to all our guests who have made the Monsoon chain of Indian restaurants the best and the leading group in USA.
