Best. Pizza. Ever..
I grew up in an Italian home and I haven't had pizza this good since my mom's. I had the thin crust (what we traditionally had at home) which was perfectly cooked - the sauce is delicious, the crust was crispy, all the ingredients tasted fresh. Then I tasted the deep dish and it was amazing as well! Then the covered pizza came out - I've never seen anything like it. I had one bite - it was perfection. This is hands down the best pizza restaurant I've ever been to in the USA.
I took some friends out as a thank you for a job well done, and we were all blown away by how delicious every bite of our food tasted!
Best BBQ Ribs!. There BBQ Ribs are so delicious! My husband and I love them!! The rib tickler is just that tickler you will still need more RIBS to statisfy you but the sides combination on the rib tickler is enough for two! (Onion rings, fries, and cole slaw) we can do the rib tickler and full ribs only and be good. When my family is in town that is a MUST to have dinner or lunch there.... YUMMY.
So. Good.. I read some of the reviews on this site and I'm SHOCKED! How could there be a negative thought about Phil's?! Phil's is a San Diego institution. I've mostly enjoyed takeout from Phil's but everytime I've been to the restaurant, the staff has been soooo nice that I have thought about working there! The food is incredible- it's so hard to make a decision, so I usually eat way too much. The Broham sandwich (pulled pork) is fabulous and the Toro is even better. And don't even get me started on the onion rings. You don't even have to be a BBQ lover to really enjoy the Phil's experience- it's THAT good! Worth putting up with long lines and lack of parking. Definitely.
Outstanding BBQ, best in San Diego.. This has got to be the best BBQ in San Diego. We have been several times and are never disappointed. Try going early to avoid the long lines. Don't let the line deter you though, the line usually moves pretty quick and the food is definitely worth the wait.
You won't find better bbq in San Diego. I am a big fan of bbq and I have eaten at bbq spots throughout the county and Phil's most definately takes the prize. The new location is also excellent, they now have a bar and there is plenty of room even at the busiest of times either inside or out.
In Sports Arena for now.
Well, it took three tries, but as they say . . . third time is a charm. The first time we went to the Goldfinch location. But be warned, that location is now closed while they ramp up the new location at 3750 Sports Arena Boulevard, and will reopen sometime (unstated) in the future as a boutique style location. The Second time we tried to go on a Monday. However, be warned, they are not openned on Mondays. So the third time we were finally able to try it for the first time.
As stated by others, this restuarant is very popular. So popular that it is often difficult to find parking, and even more difficult to find a table during peak hours. Yet, this is only more proof that the food that they serve is good, possibly great.
If you are use to southern barbeque, I hate to tell you, this is not it. Pulled Pork, Pork Rubs, Hot Sausage Links, Briskets, and pieces of white bread are not to be found here. Even worse dry ribs are not an option, as they only serve them wet. However, what they have is pretty good, and their sides are even better.
What is served is Beef Ribs, Whole or Half chicken, and pork shoulder. The ribs are fall of the bone tender, and the pork shoulder is well cooked. The barbeque sauce is a tangy tomato base number which is light and has a good after kick. Yet, it is not Memphis or Texas Barbeque by any means . . . but well worth the wait.
Try their potato salad, which has nice hearty chunks of potato, not the potato mush that one normally finds. Also the macaroni salad isn't drenched in mayonasse as is often found at other places.
Editorial Review. Smokey ribs smothered in housemade barbeque sauce draw the crowds, while good prices and no-frills atmosphere keep locals coming back.
Whatever!. CANT WAIT FOR THE GRAND OPENING OF CHANTELLE'S BBQ. I'm sure she'll have a constant smile on her face and the best layout of any restaurant in town.
Don't bother.
The layout of the place is awful.
The owner of the place is very rude.
food takes too long to be made.
Its too crowded if you want to dine inside. I would absolutly
recommend not to go.
