Not that Mexican place any longer. Went recently with my wife and loved it! I had no idea Pantry was in town - it's kind of hidden back from the main road behind a planter. It's where the old Bolero restaurant used to be, which may be why I hadn't thought about that location in years - we all know what a horrible mess Bolero was! Well - this is a totally new place, totally renovated and it shows.

Not for amateurs. What does that mean? That means if you like Marie Callender, Country club dining, or overpriced trendy restaurants - you are an amateur eater, so don't bother going to Pantry. If you like friendly, fresh, reasonably priced food and wine - then go to Pantry - it feels like a European neighborhood restaurant.

I'm tired of all the poseur restaurants in San Diego. You need a lesson on how to eat.

Pantry is the Ranch's best kept secret. We go a lot (3x week lunch or dinner) and always get great food and the wine list is stocked with only 90 point wines that are relatively cheap. Pantry reminds us of the neighborhood restaurant you find in San Francisco or New York - casual but well-thought out.
