Great Place for a date. Another great first date restaurant and bar. Whether you want lunch or dinner, you are going to be happy. If you are going for lunch, be sure to order a pizza or the fish sandwich. I absolutely love the fish sandwich. The salads are good too. They always bring you house garlic bread - it is so good you will want to eat more than two loafs, resist so you can enjoy the food.

If you are going to dinner, the ambiance is amazing. Candles light the whole restaurant, cool, calm and inviting, what a great place to stare at your date.

Here is a little secret, before you eat dinner, stop by the bar, on the other side of the restaurant door (north side). The bar area is very romantic and has a great vibe. You can sit in the chairs near the fire place, or sit at the bar and enjoy some wine.

This place is so romantic, my brother asked his wife to marry him while here.

Best Italian in Point Loma. If you want to have a quiet romantic Italian dinner, this is the place to eat. The menu have very authentic dishes that are delicious and unique. For a more casual dinner, I really recommend their pizza. The food is fresh and they have a nice selection of wine to go with your dinner. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, wonderful food!

DISAPPOINTING SERVICE. I've been a SD resident for 8+ plus years now and Old Venice used to be one of my favorite restaurants to go. It was one of the best Italian restaurants I've ever been to. The menu is extremely authentic and the food is prepared and presented elegantly. But I must say, the service my fiance and I had last time was so outrageous, we left and we've never been back since. This was about a year ago now and back then we were told THEY DIDN'T TAKE ANY RESERVATIONS. So we decided to show up and put our names down knowing we were going to be waiting . We were told initially that we would have to wait about 30-45 mins, which was okay, but an hour and 20 mins rolled by so we decided to ask about our table status. They told us that it would be a little bit longer, so at that time since we've waiting that long already we decided to wait a little longer. Then all of a sudden a large table that was comprised of two smaller table opened up. We thought for sure we were going to be seated since there were no others in front of us. Then all of a sudden a party of about 4-6 walk up and talk to the hosts. Two minutes later that party was seated before us. Without hesitation my fiance and I go talk to the hosts and inquire about the recent table seating. We explained our story and wondered why a party of people who just walked up to the restaurant got seated before us, especially since we've already waited over an hour and 20 minutes. The hosts started giving us one excuse after another including the excuse that they had made a reservation earlier that evening which didn't make sense because the same people earlier told us they didn't take reservations. We asked to speak with the restaurant manager and started to explain the situation. All she said was that they were every busy that night and she was very sorry, no other attempts to please the customer or even try to smooth things over. We left before we were seated and we have never been back to the restaurant since.

Great bar, Great restaurant. The bar can get very crowded, but the restaurant is usually a great bet if you have a reservation. Lovely food, fair prices and a romantic setting. The service is also good, though perhaps not outstanding. An excellent casual date spot that is sure to impress w/o being too stuffy.
