“great landlord; very cordial, friendly and flexible”
“Mr. Cornwell, I apologize for having to write this, but I believe you would do yourself and everyone a huge favor by moving on to another career where your distasteful personality would not be observed.”
My blood is boiling!!! So rude!. If I were able to give a 0 star rating I would! He is unprofessional and unnecessarily rude! My husband and I have great jobs and great credit so I certainly don't mind answering questions such as the ones he was asking but I'm certainly NOT going to give personal information to a stranger who won't even give me an address to drive by the property and look at it before prequalifying. Bizarre behavior! Possible fraud? My next is step is to write a letter of complaint against any licenses John Cornwall may have (property management or realtor), if I had the rental property's address, I would research the owner's contact info and let them know how he let an excellent potential family go AND lost income for her or him.
Recommendation for John Cornwell. For more than four years I've been renting a house in North Park managed by John. He has always been extremely responsive every time I've had any kind of problem, large or small. He has a a long list of fix-it specialists for any emergency who get things done right, and right away. I would highly recommend John Cornwell Realty to any prospective tenant.
John Cornwell is Discriminatory. In calling about a house for rent listed by Mr. Cornwell, I was interrogated by him about my status here in the United States. He asked questions such as "Where are you staying now? What are you doing in San Diego? So, you don't have any paystubs?", in a rude, condescending and disrespectful tone. I responded that I am a solo practitioner and have just joined a firm in San Diego, my boyfriend and I have just returned here from living the last year abroad in Europe, that I could bring my billing statements, bank statements, credit report and any other financial documentation necessary to show my stable employment and credit history. He said, "You're just coming back from overseas - sorry, no," and hung up on me. I am a US Citizen and San Diego native. This phone call with Jack Cornwell was a humiliating and demeaning experience. Under Federal Fair Housing laws, it is illegal to discriminate against someone on the basis of national origin, and this includes discrimination on the basis of temporary foreign residence. I am in the process of filing complaints with HUD Housing Discrimination and California's Department of Fair Employment and Housing against John Cornwell. I wanted others to be aware of his illegal discriminatory practices and that he is at high risk for being sued and/or his broker's license being suspended or revoked due to his discriminatory practices.
Reliable Landlord. I just wanted to share my experience with Cornwell Realty. Mr. Cornwell is a great landlord. He responds immediately to any issues we have with the property and is very reliable. I have been at one of his properties for three years, and would continue to use him as a landlord.
Horrible.. This guy is a complete jack a**. He is disrespectful and sounds like a complete scam. Do not work with this man. His social skills are dirt and so is his business. He returns calls on a blocked number. What is that? DO NOT DO BUiSNESS WITH THIS GUY.
I called to inquire about a house for rent. I found the relatively vague ad on craigslist and decided to call only to be bombarded with questions about my situation. I politely said "excuse me, but I called to ask questions about the house", he then put me on hold stating he had two other calls waiting. I hung up after a few minutes of waiting.
I have learned that while apt hunting if you get that gut feeling that the landlord will likely be a jerk, don't bother!
I would avoid this guy!
My blood is BOILING after talking to this JERK!!!. I seriously can NOT believe this guy does ANY business!!! This JERK needs to get a life! I bet this guy below me is John pretending to be a reviewer because he couldn't possibly be talking about the same dillweed I just spoke with! I'd have left 0 stars if that was an option.
Rude!!. Took forever to get ahold of the guy and once he did he bombarded with questions. I felt like I was being interrogated and I was a criminal! I didnt even get to ask any questions or have time to explain anything. Very unprofessional and it is no wonder he works by himself! No one can stand him! The only reason he has one good review was because he paid the guy to write it!! Reporting him to the BBB!
Have to agree with the negative comments.
I have had exactly the same experiences with this man as the negative reviews including being hung up on twice for asking to see a property. Interestingly, when my husband was the one to call him- no problems. We actually met with him at one time (we have never rented from him and would not- EVER) and Mr. Cronwell addressed only my husband, spoke directly to him, ignoring me other than the initial handshake. I think if you read behind the lines of the previous reviews, its women that he doesn't like.
All of that aside, based on my meeting with him I would never rent a property from him. I got the distinct impression that he's great at collecting rent, but your on your own if a problem arises with the property.
Great Landlord; Very Cordial, Friendly and Flexible. ...after reading all of the negative reviews associated with persons who have dealt with Mr. Cornwell, I am very hard pressed to imagine if we are actually talking about the same person. In the course of about 20 years, I have had the pleasure of associating with this very cordial, very flexible and very self-disciplined business man (...and his wife), and have partaken in five, count 'em, five rental units, during that time. Being an ex-military mechanic, I have been able to conduct needed repairs myself, with any material costs being readily and amiable compensated by Mr. Cornwell. I have had no problem whatsoever, in coordinating with him, should any unforeseen problems arise, and he is very understanding if financial 'glitches' happen; granted and understandably, his flexibility has it's limits, and he is quite keen to realize if his sense of flexibility is being exploited or taken advantage of. However, one must understand that as a real estate agent, he has his own deadlines to meet, and he has his own agenda to maintain, as far as the financial integrity of his properties and investments; professional courtesy, approach, attitude and respect need to work both ways, in the landlord/tenant relationship, and in the couple of decades, during which time, I have known Mr. Cornwell, it has been my absolute pleasure to work with him in this manner. Work with him, and he will work with you.....
