Been twice to San Diego's and once in Chicago – Passing through Chicago, I dropped in for a Guiness Burger and Guiness. It was a great stop at a place where I felt welcomed.
Twice I've taken a friend in San Diego wheel chaired
bound. They were most cordial providing xtra space
and the food again good at a reasonable price.
It may be a themed restaurant, but they follow through on the friendly Irish Pub Eatery.
Slow waitor – We went to bennigans with a party of 10. First off they didn't provide us with a place setting until we asked. We only saw our waitor when it was time to bring the appitizers out and dinner out. I understand large parties can be demanding but put someone with experience with the larger parties. If you like to see your waitor twice during your meal, or you like hunting for your own condemints go here
Ignore previous Review – I completely disagree with the previous review. It sounds like those people especially the boyfriend had a negative feeling about the place before they got there so her reveiw can hardly be unbiased. They also seem to be homophobic at the fact they she acted offended by having a gay server, and their uniforms are very modest so i don't see how they could call the other server a "stripper". It is also very common for restaurants to run out of items especially if they were busy. We had excellent service, excellent food, and a great time. It sounds like those previous people just need to stay home from now on because nothing seems to please them. And before bashing other people they should take a look at themselves (the seem to be the white trash people)
Family-friendly restaurant serves classic American cuisine with an Irish slant. – In Short
Since 1976, this casual family-dining restaurant has been serving a variety of American favorites in a relaxed Irish-pub-style atmosphere. Appetizers include the Irish Haystack (battered and fried red onions), calamari, wings and Caribbean crab cakes. The Big Irish burger is a one-pound, double-decker affair with two grilled patties and American cheese. Other entrees include sirloin and rib eye steaks, baby back ribs, chicken fajitas, fish-and-chips, grilled Atlantic salmon and full-portion salads.
5 IQ Points Dumber – Instead of a biased review, I will present our evening as it happened and let you judge for yourselves.
Upon hearing the word Bennigan's, my boyfriend screamed "F-word" in disgust. After some prodding, I got him to admit that he had never actually been there, but that he had low expectations and so since I'm the boss, we "decided" to give it a try.
Upon arriving at Bennigan's, his first observation was that the crowd looked more suited to a Riverside truck show vs a restaurant. I tried to rush us to our seat so as to overlook the "dilemma," thinking that he would have no more to complain about. The moment we sat down, I noticed a smirk on his face. "What!?!" I exclaimed. "My seat's busted." he replied, laughing. I kindly switched seats with him to shut him up.
Our first waiter was gay.
Upon ordering, our gay waiter informed us that Bennigan's was OUT OF POTROAST, the item I wanted. My bf laughed again. Our gay waiter then became offended by our laughter, so they upgraded us to the stripper waitress(hussy). I opted for chicken + shrimp pasta, thinking all was well.
Wrong. My shrimp and chicken pasta arrived as shrimp pasta. My bf's order was incomplete too. After a complaint(and liberal use of the F-word), they cooked chicken and handed it to me on a plate. Classy. 5 bites into the meal, I started feeling sick and stopped eating. Boyfriend 5, me 0.
The waitress took my plate. I decided to fake gag for my bf's benefit. The waitress saw me. Then I went to the bathroom. While in the bathroom, two girls bumped the table we were at(boyfriend still sitting) and cackled loudly into his ear. Rap music started playing. Classy. The two girls went over to this group of guys(appropriately deemed the "Toolfest.") Then one of the toolfest uttered "My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard...brah." Disgraceful, although analagous to all the other toolage in the restaurant. The waitress threw the check at my bf, netting her a small tip.
