perfection.
After being traumatized at David's Bridal, my mother dragged me all over town in search for a dress that was "me". It seemed impossible for way too many reasons and why is every sales woman so awkward around me when I'm running around the fitting room in a strapless bra and leggings? I'm 90 pounds of woman, my hip bones stick out and I don't have boobs to put in the bra you made me put on.. deal with it..
My appointment at HCtB was very comfortable, plesant even. Kayla was a frustrated brides dream come true. She didn't care that I was half naked, she was honest, and she made the experience fun. She threw dress after dress over my head until we found that Paloma Blanca was perfection.
I can't wait to get my dress and go back five more times for alterations.
beautiful gown.
I once nicknamed wedding dress hunting as, "Say Hell No to the Dress".
I am not one of those giddy I LOVE TO PLAN MY WEDDING types. The reality is that we're having a destination wedding, on the beach and I didn't care at all about the frock. In fact, I planned to buy it a couple of months before the big day, online. Wow, listen to all those gasps!
Well, one of my organized bridesmaids dragged me here to start the adventure. I was NOT pleased. When greeted by the poor saleslady that (un)luckily was paired with me, I said "No beads, no bling, no lace, no frills and no high price". Take that!
Lo and behold it was sample sale time! I scored the BEST DRESS EVER - a Manual Mota (the truth: never heard of the dude until that day) Spring 2010 frothy ivory gown. $1000 off the original price. It was the first dress I tried on. Done and done.
Oh, and props to Nancy, the most delightful sales lady who genuinely understood my off-kilter requests and sense of humor. Gorgeous, spacious private dressing rooms too.
Yes, I give HCtB 5 stars because I found a beautiful gown at a great price, the sales lady REALLY listened to me, and I was in and out in less than 40 minutes without so much one fleeting thought that the experience sucked it.
And did I mention that the dress makes me look 10 pounds lighter and 10 inches taller? Boo-yah!
the place to go. I purchased my dress 9 months ago and finally picked it up today. I must say that I would recommend this place to everyone. From the beginning the experience was wonderful. Rebecca my consultant helped me find the perfect dress, which by the way I would have never tried on, but she picked it out and ask me to try it on for her. It was something completley different than what I was looking for but it made my shape look like it has never looked before. The place is great, it is very clean with huge rooms that are private, they allowed me to take all the pictures I wanted and never once was I rushed. My dress came in two weeks before my estimated time and I started my alterations two months before. Martha my seamstress was wonderful. She is very understanding and never once did she get upset or rush me when I went over my appointment time. Their alterations are a flat fee which is nice because you know up front from the begining what you are going to pay and despite the fact that I came in 5 times because I kept dropping weight, never once did they charge me again. The nicest thing about everything is that I was always greeted with a smile and although I had already purchased my dress when I came in like a bridezilla to try on the sample while my own dress came in they always were happy, knew my name, and never rushed me to leave the store. I would give this place 10 stars if possible. If you are getting married, this is the place to go.
Great Service.
I loved this place! I heard mixed reviews about Here Comes the Bride but decided to go and take a look for myself .
Maybe I just got lucky but everything ran smoothly and everyone was so helpful & informative.
My consultant was Rebecca, and I have no idea how she did it but she helped me find the gown of my dreams when only 40 minutes before I had no specific idea on what kind of dress I was looking for. I purchased my dress that same week ( I was told the longer I waited the closer it would come to my wedding date), and my Dream Dress came in 7 months later with 3 months till the wedding date.
I was overall very happy with the service from Here Comes the Bride and I would deffinalty recommend it to any bride :)
relaxed experience.
I visited HCTB after being to a handful of bridal shops in Boston, San Diego, and around Connecticut, and immediately felt at ease. My consultant, Megan, felt more like a friend than a salesperson as she assisted me with dresses. The calm, open feel of the store and the large dressing rooms put me at ease - unlike those teeny stores with dresses lining every wall, still packaged in plastic.
I found a dress that I liked elsewhere that HCTB didn't have in store, but they graciously ordered what I wanted and were helpful along the way.
Fittings were a breeze, and the seamstress was a sweetheart!
Would definitely recommend to the bride who wants a relaxed experience. I might suggest visiting a larger boutique if you're trying dresses for the first time, since selection is limited. Once you have a style and/or dress in mind, HCTB is the place to be!!
beautiful!. A friend at work recommended this place to me and I am so glad. I just bought my dress here last week. It was the first bridal shop I visited and I went to two other places afterwards to make certain the dress I liked at Here Comes the Bride was the one. The other shops were totally gross....dirty, tacky dresses. The dresses here are well taken care of and the shop is beautiful and clean. Big dressing rooms so you do not have to stand in the middle of the store like David's Bridal. Plus, I was able to purchase the dress off the rack at a discount and it is beautiful!
beautiful.
I just bought 2012 Rina di montella dress here yesterday and had the most wonderful experience in choosing my dress. I worked with Rebecca and thought she was amazing and did a wonderful job in helping choose my dress!! How she knew my style and what would look beautiful on me just amazes me! She kept my budget in mind and help me get the dress that I wanted without having to worry about going over.
The boutique is also beautiful. The private rooms made my experience with my friends and family one to remember. I would recommend this store to anyone based on the great experience I've had so far.I am uber excited to see the dress!
Run Away From this Place!!.
My wife and daughter went in to this place to view dresses. They were wowed by the moment and decided upon a $4500 piece. They gave a 50% deposit. The next day buyer's remorse set in and the contacted the store to inform them that they did not want the dress. They refused to accept the cancellation.
We took them to small claims court and the judge ruledmin our favor. The judge couldn't believe the shop did not want to refund the deposit minus the restocking fee. They didn't return the money. They appealed. We went to Superior Court and again the judge, in a matter of minutes, ruled that they must return the money. Four months later we are still waiting for the $1400. We'll have to take them to court for a 3rd time.
Do not patronize this establishment unless you want to get robbed.
There Goes my Wedding!.
It started out as sunshine and roses- a hip, beautiful store with stylish dresses and accessories, giant dressing rooms where you can have all your friends and family sit on a plush purple couch while you try on potential wedding dresses.... then you buy your dress and they lie to you about when it will be here and don't communicate with you at all about why your dress is two months late. Everytime you call they "check the computer" and tell you it just shipped (yay!) or it will be one more week. You finally get to put it on at your first fitting and can't wait to see what it looks all finished!
Then they don't communicate with you about it not being there for fitting number two. Not only do they not call you, but when you call, an hour ahead of time, they neglect to tell you that your dress is not ready for your fitting. And then when you show up at the store for your second fitting, they let you sit there for an HOUR waiting for your fitting and STILL don't tell you your dress is not there. When your good friend and consultant finally HAS to deal with you, she pulls you into a back room and shuts the door- clearly afraid to tell you for fear that you'll freak out and let the other brides in the waiting room know how bad their customer service is. Since you've already paid for the alterations (Albeit you paid at a happier time, before they knifed you in the back. Twice.), you roll the dice and come back in a week.
And NOTHING can top what you see.
So that's my experience to date with Here Comes The Bride. I walked in for fitting 2.5 (since fitting 2 didn't quite work out as planned....). There was a girl sitting in the front of the shop talking on her phone. I couldn't help but overhear her story and it was every girl's worst nightmare. Her wedding is TOMORROW. And her dress is not finished. She had been at the store since they opened that morning, which was well over 8 hours when I got there, and she was NOT leaving without that dress. Of course, it being the day before her wedding, she had a hundred errands to run.
Did I mention her wedding is TOMORROW?!
But she wouldn't leave because she was afraid they would lock the door and not let her in and then tomorrow she wouldn't have a dress to wear on the biggest day of her life. She kept saying, "I know it sounds irrational, but I will not leave." I disagree- after the way they do business, I might go sit in their lobby until next Friday when my dress is supposed to show back up! And this girl was being SOOOOO nice about the situation. She kept saying that the two people at the front desk were the most abused employees anywhere and it wasn't their fault. She kept mentioning that "they" were calling people Bridezilla (probably me after I gave Rebecca, the manager, an earful over the phone when I was calling to ensure that my dress REALLY was there this time!) and that wasn't fair because she's been nothing but kind. She wondered out loud several times "How do they stay in business?" She was still aware that the people who could resolve the issue were not helping in any way and were not doing ANYTHING to accommodate her. Did I mention that her wedding is tomorrow? And it's in LA, not San Diego?!
I feel horrible for the poor girl and will be saying a prayer tonight that she gets her dress, looks fabulous in it, and that her big day surpasses her every expectation.
But the rest of you ladies, please save yourself the trouble. The anguish! The HORROR! You have a hundred stores in town to choose from, but you only get one shot at this being a great experience. Here Comes The Bride has robbed me of those fond memories of picking out and trying on my wedding dress, and I'm clearly not alone...
