Dumbest waitress east of 8. Use to love having the salads served at Bully's. Then things started going down hill. I ordered a Cobb salad and was given a place of lettuce with tiny bits of what I think was beeg and that was it. When I protested, the watress started to argue with me. Who in their right mind would pay 15 bucks for romaine and bits of beef ?…
RUDEST HOSTESS. Our family came here for the first time tonight. The young hostess was rude, UNfriendly, seemed annoyed the moment we walked in. When seated we asked if we could have a booth she said they were all taken. We were looking at an empty one and asked if we could sit there. She said NO you have 3 people that is for 4. She said it in a way that was completely RUDE. It was our fist time there and we clocked the booth. It took 40 mins for them to seat a party of 4. It was empty the entire time. The waitress was a sweetheart the bus-boy was polite. The hostess ...well lets just say I know why they call it BULLY's....she sure Bullied us around.…
Lousy Father's Day Experience.
If you are coming to San Diego (or live in San Diego), one eatery to AVOID is Bully's East. The food is O.K., prices are high and the owner, at least in my situation, is/was very unethical and not
honorable. (My wife and I went to celebrate Fathers Day on Monday, the day after Fathers Day-I wanted to catch the last round of the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach on Sunday.) Bully's did honor a portion of the $200 gift certificate (purchased on SkyAuction for $90.00) that I tried to redeem.
My wife and I went for Dinner and our bill came to $80 and change. I gave them the $200 certificate and the bill was taken of but I was not given credit for the additional $120.00. (No where on the certificate did it state that it(certificate)"must be used in one sitting," but that is what the restaurant personel stated. It did state" NO CASH BACK which was fine with us...we did not want cash back, (but we did want the $120 credit which was not used.) The manager called the owner at home and was told to tell us to bad. The restaurant owner said not to honor the remaining balance.
I went in the next day to speak directly with the owner because I "knew that there must be a misunderstanding," but nope, no misunderstanding, he basically said "to bad."
My wife and I will NOT be going back. Both of us are quite surprised by the response/unresponsiveness of the owner and management of Bully's East. The pompus attidude that was displayed was the hardest to understand...…
Been eating here for 2 decades. Still a customer.. Bully's is a classic watering hole, which may seem anachronistic these days. The food, however, is consistently good. I recommend the burgers, Nooner (flank steak sandwich) or Prime Rib sandwich. Each entree comes with 2 side dishes, which makes the meal a good value. The vegetables have, in my experience, always been cooked properly (i.e., not overcooked). You do need to specify how you want your steak cooked, bearing in mind that it sometimes comes cooked 1 level higher than you specify. Don't order anything complicated or fancy. This is a steakhouse. If it's broiled or grilled, you'll be fine. The quality and speed of service is entirely dependent on your server. Unlike other reviewers, when I spoke to the manager about slow service on one visit, he handled things directly. Waits can be long and the place caters first and foremost to "regulars" so if you are an occasional guest you might find the wait annoying. If you're in a rush, avoid peak hours or eat at the bar.…
After ten years of wondering i finally know.... It's great! After driving by it for years on the way someplace else i finally stopped in and am glad I did. The decor is just how i like it. Dark woods and warm leather booths with a very subdued lighting scheme but certainly not dark. An amazing looking bar with friendly bartenders everyone seemed to know and enjoy, after all this is a small locals joint but very welcoming and used to first timers coming in to enjoy what is apparently "the place" to get prime rib. I Ordered the Petite prime rib with green beans almondine and steak fries. For dessert I ordered the Creme Brule. And to wash it all down with? What else but a Long Island iced tea. For a grand Total of $35.00 and a ten dollar tip on top of that I was satisfied but not blown away. Maybe next time i'll just get dessert and a drink as the Creme Brule was quite wonderful.…
