Live like a king, pay like a pauper.
Drove into San Diego on a whim and found this place on I-8. I chose it because of the cool sign. It was a bit retro and I like retro.
The lobby was very throwback but the agent was professional and I got a great rate. Also got discounts to both of the hotel's restaurants. She gave me an upgrade to a poolside room.
Parking was easy. Pool looked inviting. The room, well, still working on older bedspreads and curtains, but was fine. The bathroom and TV are both a little small, but I didn't spend much time with either of them.
Free appetizers during Happy Hour and good margaritas were a plus. And in the morning I ate a bacon waffle at The Waffle Spot. Tasty! And the cartoon characters of Breakfast foods were hilarious.
Definitely a good value and for those of us who don't want a cookie cutter experience. This place is a good find.
A Dump.. This place was a total dump. Our room was musty and smelled of mold. The carpet was damp, presumably with mold or some sort of water damage, causing the smell. We shook out a centipede out of the bed, there were earwigs crawling all around. The only good thing I can say about the place is that the hot tub was nice, that's about it. Spend an extra 20 bucks a night and go stay somewhere nice. This place should be called "Bums Inn" not Kings Inn.
