Doesn't honor Restaurant dot com coupons - food mediocre.
Don't go to this restaurant. They did not honor our restaurant dot com coupon which I bought a few days ago. The owner lied to us and said that he had canceled the coupon 2 years ago, but a review on yelp shows that someone used a coupon there in Jan. 2011.
The service was slow and substandard and the food was mediocre.
Catchy Name, Bad Food and Service.
Being an executive chef for Rock Sugar, I and my wife adventure out for the mostly commercial establishments.. Several weeks ago, however we decided to try something with a more local flair and seeked out a local Asian meal. Passing by the main mall, we accidentally found a small plaza bearing the catchy name. We like the local look of the place and went in on what seemed to be a dead Saturday evening. No TV's however it seemed quaint and appropriate enough for the occasion and environment.
The manager seemed friendly enough with a great smile... After that, we must admit everything went down hill from that point on. Preparation of the entrees were messy. Entrees came out 31minutes after the initial entrance, yes I accidentally caught it. 5 minutes after the meal, we noticed that the caddies weren't even out but at a side station. Noticing no one was around, I personally had to grab the caddy out of the station. Appetizer came out after the meal as he clearly had forgotten about it after my suggestion and did a quick refire... another 25 minutes for appetizers. I do have to give it to him for doing all this with a big smile to the both of us, genuine or not.
Noticing that we were obviously flustered and frustrated, he had the boldness to ask if we would like dessert before checking on our condition. Luckily my wife nudged me to save the already ruined visit and I ultimately bit my tongue and it turned out to be the best bet. Let's be honest here, we're here for the food after all this mess. Subjecting it to my palette, what I noticed was underdone rice and very tough meat, under the salty sauces to hide the real taste of slightly unfresh meat. I was aghast with the quality of the food of this place. If there's any kitchen that someone like Gordon Ramsey's show can "remake", this place would be the place. I'm afraid to inspect what it may look like in the kitchen. Thinking back on the experience, the place is so dark that I'm afraid of what it's hiding underneath. To cap the evening, a salvaged romantic evening by my wife and we are obviously not coming back here. It is out of tremendous pain, but completely out of frustration that I/We rate negatively, however... We'll give 1 starr for his smile! About the 4 Star average on Yelp, completely baffled and I personally would focus on the negative reviews and its reasons.
