In Short – On a quiet North Park corner, the tavern's lanterns and heavy wood patio allude to the cozy, Old World atmosphere inside. The pub's food sounds standard--burgers, onion rings, mashed potatoes--but the restaurant prides itself on finding ingredients from sustainable and ethical suppliers. The bar serves up bottled beers from across Europe as well as local brews on tap, plus a decent wine list by the bottle or glass. –
simple food done well

It's not the most adventurous, it's not the most in--your-face, but it's arguably some of the best food in North Park. There's a lot to be said for simple food, cooked well, and served in a friendly dining room. I've been twice, and each time had gracious staff experiences, knowledgable beer/wine pairings and, on the menu, we love the burger, the cheese board and the fish and chips. The patio seems to be more popular for seating, but I totally prefer the cozy inside tables.
- Pros: small dining room, excellent beer selection
- Cons: limited menu
I don't want to give a poor review, but here it is anyway.

Let me first start by saying that everyone who worked there last night was very pleasant. It is with a heavy heart that I have to write a negative review. Upon arrival we were greeted quickly enough and offered drinks as we waited for a table. Then we waited, and waited, and waited, 40 minutes to be exact. They forgot about us, or more specifically the host forgot about us, when we went to go check on our table for the second time, we finally got seated at a table that had been ready the whole time. The odd thing was that the people were so nice and friendly they were completely unaware that anything was wrong; it was as if they couldn't imagine that there would be anything wrong with the 40 minute wait, when they weren't busy at all. I had been there previously and had the shrimp scampi which I enjoyed, however this time I was to be disappointed, as another reviewer commented, the shrimp was overcooked and the sauce lacked ooomph. The burger, was in fact a burger, but one I could have only spent $4 on at in 'n out instead. I also saw another table with the mussels, which sadly looked wonderful, but was the last serving available (probably could have gotten it 40 minutes ago...). The shepherd?s pie was fantastic I will admit and if I was to ever eat there again, that would be on the bill. The beer list is awesomely long so I would recommend this as a place to get a drink, but for a meal, not so much.
Euro beer, great shepherds pie, fun night

The staff was friendly and groovy. The cute waitress had geek chic glasses and knew about the beers. The fish/chips were great, the hamburger was...a hamburger... the shepherds pie was great. Belgian beer on tap, delicious! Good lighting and low but not quiet volume level. It's not as close as my 'usual' so this will still be my alternate pub and it's not cheap, but otherwise this is my new favorite. Try it out.
