In Short – Serving up salads and paninis during the day and small bites at night, this intimate wine bar is a relaxing spot for couples and small groups. Two tall tables at the front accommodate groups of 6, where parties congregate to share plates of swiss gruyere, hummus and bruschetta. Wines are served by the glass, but fresh, lightly-sweetened water in flavors like blueberry-mint might lure some patrons away from the alcohol.

Unique Wine Bar

This is a great find if you love good wine, initmate setting and low key feel. The owner is on hand most of the time and is very knowledgeable of the wines he brings in, as well as friendly and helpful in deciding what to try. I did not have any food but the selections sound good. My only complaint is the music was a little loud for easy conversation but has not stopped me from reccommending it to friends and looking forward to going back.

Outside of the box winebar

I found this place to be unique in flavor and design. U8 Tiger shrimps with nectarine-habanero salsa.
Filet mignon skewers with Danish bleu and chimichurri. Elementally designed. Contemporary-tropical.
Wine selection is esoteric and refreshing: Gruner Vetliner, Bierzo, Tasmanian Pinot Noir, Chablis and Malbecs. Banging with flavors! Quesadilla of 3 diffferent cheeses with guava paste!? Where in SD are you gonna find this? Stan Getz, "O Grande Amor" in the background. My new spot!
San Diego was in need of something like this.

If you appreciate wine, stay away

I went there early on a Friday night and grabbed a spot. I like the location and the decoration is pretty good. The vibe was nice over all. The people there seemed friendly.
The surprise was had when I looked at the wine list and discovered the shocking lack of selection for a wine bar this is not a good sign. I looked around and people had large glasses and so I thought well maybe the wines they had were just hidden gems. No such luck. The first glass I got had gone bad, I could tell just by the smell that it had turned. This isn't uncommon for wine bars and always frustrates me. The replacement glass smelled much better but still tasted awful. I tried my girlfriends and it wasn't much better. Mind you these weren't cheap glasses I think they were 10-12 bucks. I started looking around and noticed that they were storing their wine in a nice looking but non temperature controlled cabinet, and that it was open to direct sunlight. This is a big strike two for a wine bar. Then I had some of the food. I tried a "special" which you would think would live up to it's name but it was mediocre. I guess most people wouldn't order it if it said "Daily Mediocre" on the chalkboard. Anyway if they are going to survive I think they need to take better care of their wine in the selection and storage, especially once they open their bottles.
Maybe the sangria is ok. But if you like wine.. Skip it.
