Editorial Review for Firehouse American Eatery and Lounge – by Erin Chambers
In Short
Literally steps from the sand, DJ-spun beats make the beach scene feel more upscale at this rooftop sun deck dotted with double-wide lounge chairs, bright umbrellas and views of sunbathers on the beach below. Downstairs, two bars coexist with more traditional seating in the restaurant , where separate breakfast and "all day" menus focus on clean California and Baja dishes like grilled salmon, fish tacos, ahi burgers and popular local brew Firehouse Ale.

It is too bad that the service is so sub-standard because the menu and location can't be beat. It is a fairly priced breakfast place but the service makes you want to walk out! I ordered 3 drinks at my table and they never arrived. I asked for avocado on the side (as it suggests in the menu) and the server looked at me like I was crazy. The servers and the managers live up to all of the stereotypes of PB! I now understand why I didn't have to wait for a table. If you want a great breakfast, great view and great service - walk a few blocks to the green flash, world famous or even the mission. Such a disappointment!
Pros: view of the ocean
Cons: horrible service

We were turned onto the breakfast at Firehouse by a friend and were pleasantly suprised - They have some great breakfast fare (strawberry pancakes, waffles, and the filet mignon benedict are outstanding). We have tried them for lunch and weren't quite as impressed; however, if you are looking for a great place for breakfast, Firehouse rocks.
Pros: location, view (definitely sit upstairs), validated parking, service, and breakfast foods
