Editorial Review for Dana Inn & Marina – by Leah Laux, SignOnSanDiego.com
The Scene
Situated on the lip of Dana Landing, a small 145-slip marina, the Inn's 196 rooms are housed in eight two-story buildings, which spoke out from the pool and recreation deck in the center of the complex. Behind the motel's spider-shaped layout, awaits a marina entrance to Mission Bay. A walking/biking trail extends from the marina all the way around Mission Bay Park.
The Details
A complimentary SeaWorld shuttle runs a fairly regular route (four to eight departures per day depending on time of year), or embark on the 15-minute walk. Downtown is about a 15-minute drive depending on traffic. If you're game, there's a bus stop right out front, and the beach is close by. Parking is free and the Inn offers a complimentary airport shuttle; call the inn when you've got your luggage, and the shuttle usually arrives within 20 minutes.

Insider Tips
Other ActivitiesIf water sports are more your speed, stop by the rental booth just off the walking path for sailboats, motorboats, kayaks, personal watercraft and paddleboats (and bicycles, too).
AmmenitiesThe motel's community-style recreation area, includes a well-kept gated pool/spa area with deck furniture, as well as ping-pong tables and a shuffleboard court. Tennis courts are located on the grounds to the left side of the pool deck.

Beautiful hotel, we had a wonderful stay. However, the whole time we felt like something was missing that we couldn't put a finger on. Our room was tiny. Not unexepected, we didn't stay in the brand new portion. The bathroom was even smaller. The amenities were fabulous, the pools and jaccuzzis received tons of attention. We also ate at the Blue Pearl, part of the hotel. Food was good, service was ok. Service for our room was a bit annoying. Our first night we used the Do not Disturb sign only to have our door knocked on multiple times. The next time we used it, we received a phone call asking about housecleaning. I think we expected a bit better. Still recommend it, great for families and the price was great.
Pros: Value, Amenities, Location
Cons: Service, Room Size
