My husband and I have been going to Volare for the last 7 years. I love the food and the calm service. If you want and evening to actually have a conversation and relax, this is a good place to go.
Be ready to spend a couple hours since the food is made fresh.
The place is very old fashioned and dusty, but that's what makes it special to me. Everywhere in San Diego you feel like you are being rushed by phony waiters. It feels like they are only catering to tourism. Volare is one of the only places in San Diego that still has that charm that some of us locals crave. The servers are polite without the fake smile and the whiny voices. I hope Volare never changes their service style because it is what makes them unique, we locals love it the way it is. Definitely not a place for snobs.
When my husband and I go on vacation we look for places like this, it makes our experience so much better. It's the simple things in life, right?…
