“So when I would be coming back from a club I knew I could count on a half slab of beautiful, fresh and so sweet ribs.”
“Two huge competition smoker sit outside his joint but like the New Huff's No smoke.”
Lost it's Mojo.
Well, I grew up in the neighborhood long time ago and I remember Mr Huffman who used to work in the aircraft industry open this place. Wow, back in the day everyday the sweet barbecue smoke would be filling the neighborhood. This would get you mouth watering for those ribs and pulled pork. The place stayed open till after the bars closed. So when I would be coming back from a club I knew I could count on a half slab of beautiful, fresh and so sweet ribs. Even at that time of the morning there was a hug line to get in.
That was than and unfortunately Mr Huffman passed away some time ago and since than there has been no smoke billowing out, in fact if you did not notice the sign you would never know it was a bb-q place! I have tried it and I'm sorry to say all the Original Mojo is completely gone. No more lines and I think they do more hot link business that anything else. Such a shame. Funny there is a new guy in the area that used to be in East lake. Two huge competition smoker sit outside his joint but like the New Huff's No smoke. What the hell.
not the best soul food. im not very fond of huffmans. i grew up in the area and have never cared for it. i ordered smothered pork chops and the gravy was powdered gravy so it didnt go with the porkchops. the catfish is pretty good though.
Editorial Review. Barrio Logan's soul-food institution has been serving perfect hush puppies, fried chicken and loads of Southern comfort since 1967.
