Best Authentic Italian food. I had dinner with my girlfriend in this beautiful restaurant so many times ,shes Italian, and always LOVED the food and.. now I know why...Last saturday I was at Solare for a Cooking Class....the class was incredible...I learn so many thing about food andhow to make fresh egg-pasta...pesto sauce...ravioli..and after we made them...we cooked and ate them and had the most amazing lunch..the kitchen was sooo clean and very well organized...I watch one of the cook make minestone soup..from scratch!...cutting and slicing the most colorful and fresh veggie..and mixing them with basil and parsley..it was a feast for the eyes...Stefano owner/cook is a lovely man...and an Artist in the kitchen...he loves organic fresh food and cares so much about the quality of food is serving to his customers...BRAVO!
The Best Organic & Green Italian Restaurant in San Diego. An amazing oasis in the middle of a beautiful park. My family and I had a wonderful meal at Solare. Our children attend the charter school High tech High and to have such a great restaurant with food that is ALL ORGANIC and GREEN is hard to find in this town. My daughter is very picky and the staff were polite and patient as she asked so many questions about the dishes. My husband and I had the Domestic Lamb( both of us savored every morsel), my son had the Ofelle ( homemade dumplings stuffed with with sausage), he would have licked the plate if I had let him...my daughter had the Agnolotti, another great homemade ravioli this one with fresh meat. Her words "Heavenly" We were treated with great service, and the setting made us feel like we were in Italy. A lively jazz band entertained us from the lounge, while we enjoyed homemade Tiramisu' cake that melted in our mouths. Overall a great time, we look forward to coming back on Sundays, they have a 50% bottles of wines. I have already planned a Wed. ladies nite out to enjoy the $6 Martini Specials!! And while I wait for my kids at Karate, I am going to enjoy a $5.00 glass of great wine and a free appetizer to boot!!! I hope more San Diegans go to this wonderful gem located in the Heart of Liberty Station, I know we will.
best food. This is a great find in Liberty Station! The food is amazing.....the butternut squash raviolis are amazing! Make sure you sit inside though, or else you will hear a plane fly over your head every 5 minutes!
Best authentic Italian restaurant in San Diego. This is the best Italian restaurant in San Diego! I tried at least a dozen of Italian restaurants in town and this is definitely the most authentic one I found so far. I am Italian, first generation, and I have been leaving in San diego for the past three years. A friend took me there and I was positively shocked to find out that owners and many of the staff are really Italian and the cuisine is like the one I am used to eat in Milan. No fake Italian dishes like "Alfredo sauce" or "chicken Parmigiana" which do not exist on the menus, in my country, but an excellent contemporary Italian cuisine with entrees really interesting and not boring, and above all, of a superior quality and presentation. No wonder the lamb racks melt in your mouth! they use domestic, natural lamb. It is more expensive, this is true, but it is worth it. unfortunately, people in the States tend to be more sensitive to quantity rather then quality. At Solare, I feel like in Milan, my home town, where you enjoy great food and beautiful ambiance restaurants with an interesting international crowd. I will keep recommending this new place at Liberty Station.
Italian and Asian-inspired cuisine served indoors or alfresco in Liberty Station's arts and culture district..
In Short
Located at Liberty Station's Naval Training Center Promenade, this upscale eatery effortlessly combines contemporary ambience with the warmth of a family restaurant. High ceilings, oversized windows and hardwood floors give the dining area a spacious and airy feel, while handcrafted teak tables and chairs from Bali add an exotic touch. The inviting outdoor patio is perfect for sunset dinners, and comfy leather couches in the lounge are ideal for drinks and tapas at happy hour. Tapas favorites include crusted tuna, grilled eggplant pizza and mahi-mahi skewers, while the dinner menu offers asparagus risotto with seared scallops, rack of lamb and homemade meat ravioli. Lunch features a variety of salads, pizza and pasta at more budget-friendly prices.
