In Short – Group-friendly round tables fill the open, cafeteria-like dining room of this North Park spot. Most of the tables have rotating tabletops to facilitate sharing. Waiters dart around from the kitchen with steaming portions of deep fried duck, beef noodle soup, garlic shrimp stir fried dishes and assorted vegetables. The menu has ore than 300 options to choose from-and that's not including the drinks. –

Terrible Food Meets Terrible Service
by asriana at Citysearch
I guess I should have figured the food would be bad by the scent of old dead fish, but hey I am generally an optimist and I was starving. I eat vietnamese food about once a week, so I know how it is supposed to taste. When I am leery about a place I will generally order a rare steak pho or a beef with rice plate. (It is very difficult to ruin this).
I first ordered the egg rolls. They tasted like rubber on the outside, and everything inside of them tasted old. By this point I was very very nervous, but I had already ordered my food. After getting my food, my worst fears were confirmed. Like the tank with many dead crab and lobster (I solved the case of the terrible dead fish scent), my meat tasted old. Like left on the counter for hours without refrigeration old. I brought this problem up with my waiter. . .you know the problem where my food tastes very bad. He said, "Well some people don't like our food, but that is their preference. The food is fine." IT WAS NOT FINE, IT WAS THE MOST TERRIBLE THING I HAVE EVER HAD THE DISPLEASURE OF EATING. When I told him that this food tasted bad, he told me I should have been careful with my order. He then tried to explain somethings to me but I had a very difficult time understanding his accent. . so I am not sure what he said.
I have been to fifteen different pho places (That I can think of), and I have never tasted food so gamey or bad. I asked to speak to his manager, and he said no that he had already talked to her.
If I could give negative stars for this place, I would. The service is bad, and the food is worse. I have placed a complaint with the county health inspector about their terribly old food. My advice, steer far away from this place. I would go to Pho Express up the street on fairmont. The have way better service, and way better food.
FAIR WARNING, if they mess up your order, they will not fix it, and they will expect you to pay for it.
be very cautious

I go to Saigon occasionally whenever I'm in east SD, but will never go back again. I'm pretty aquainted with the MSG coma after eating here, but nothing compares to recycled vegetables. The veggies that came with my egg rolls smelled like fish sauce before I had a chance to dip. My girlfriend told the server, but he didn't seem to care nor replace it for us. I guess that's the trade-off for cheap prices.
- Pros: cheap prices
- Cons: servers speak little english, lots of MSG, recycled veggies
Great food, great prices

Good quality Vietnamese food - especially the seafood - without paying a ton of money. My only complaints are the tight layout and not-so-great service.
- Pros: Food, Prices
- Cons: Service, Layout
