Ham full of fat!.
I had always heard about how great Honeybaked hams were, so for Easter I went up to Genesee with coupons in hand to get a ham and turkey for my daughter's house. I had a coupon for $12 off if I bought both.
I got a 8 lb ham and 4 lb turkey. (Funny how there was not prices listed in the store either) The cashier than split the coupon to take $7 off for the ham and $5 for the turkey--when I got home, I realized she ADDED $5 for the turkey. I asked for a smoked turkey breast and it was sugar coated--ugh , sweet turkey is not what I was expecting.
Plus the ham (which I expected to be sugar coated) had more fat on it than I have ever seen on a ham. There was a layer of fat between the skin and the meat and globs of fat through out---
The bone in the ham was the biggest I had ever seen also--I cut it out and weighted it--- 3 lbs-- plus adding the 2-3 lbs of fat on the ham, we got very little meat and the price was outrageous. I don't know what others see in this ham--all I can think of is they never bought a ham at the groceries and cook it themselves. I shall never get another and I will do my best to discourage any one else from going there.
LAME in ORGANIZING THE PLACE.
OK, I am as patient as the next person, and waiting OVER AN HOUR was about at my limit for a product at this store. (granted it was right before Thanksgiving, so I am aware of the abnormal "rush.") Then the unthinkable happens... Someone arrives, walks right in, she went to the counter in front of EVERYONE WAITING IN LINE, then got pointed to, and went over to the manager, then GOT SERVED, ahead of everyone else in line.
You have to be kidding me ! This set off a rumble in the group. We were all immediately thinking lynching, or heck, baking her right in the store's ovens... the group got MAD. But as it turns out this person was supposedly "handicapped." As I find out much later.
The crowd is now unruly at best, after waiting FOR AN HOUR, but to have someone arrive, and no matter what their condition, to JUMP IN FRONT OF THE LINE, is very un-American, and downright annoying. I will NEVER go to this location again.
The "handicapped" lady, who walked in, and walked out, in less time than anyone else in line, was PARKED RIGHT IN THE FRONT, IN AN HANDICAPPED SPACE. So it made sense that she was, to me, also mentally handicapped as well as physically handicapped. OK, I understand that she was ill in some way, but I think that there was more rocks in her head than in her garden.
That was a bitchy move to do that to other people WAITING IN LINE FOR AN HOUR.
Now, I understand that "handicapped" people deserve a good parking space, and I agree that they are in need of extra attention, however, they do not, in my book, get to JUMP A LINE and be served first, when the line is of EPIC proportions. Just because they are handicapped, means they can WAIT like everyone else. If they want to be treated like anybody else, then they can do what we do, and WAIT !
Apparently she was unable to STAND for long periods. OK, great, good to know, but there are SOLUTIONS to her problem so that the rest of the angry mob does not set the store in fire in disgust when someone gets "special" treatment.
Here's the solution for the store manager; Give out numbers. And if the lady was truly handicapped, then give her a number, and when the number is called, send someone to her car and assist her.... IN THE ORDER THAT SHE ARRIVED in. That is the ONLY acceptable solution to me. Otherwise I will get that Lady's phone number, and I will have her pick up my frickin' MEAT order next year, and I will pay her money, so I won't have to wait in a stupid crazy long line, or better yet, I will get my grandma, who can qualify for a handicapped sticker, and let her pick up the order.
Nuff said Honey Baked ham, get your store in ORDER, numbered ORDER, so I don't go POSTAL on you next year. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I am going to the local grocery store next year, and not your store, who seem to have worked out a system with simple NUMBERS !
