Really cool concept and amazing flatbread pizza

by hmdrake at Citysearch

This is the only place I've ever seen the wine vending machine concept. It's really neat - the 1 oz pours are enough to get a good taste of the wine and to figure out if it's something you'd like more of. Also, particularly for the expensive wines ($50+/bottle), it's much more affordable than buying a glass so it gives you a chance to try wines you otherwise would shy away from due to the cost. They even arrange the red wines in groups by cost so if you want the cheaper options, you can stick to the first group (all under $1.60). We started off with $20 on our card and wound up putting on another $20 since we tried some of the pricier wines - well worth it.

The menu is pretty limited, but when I smelled something delicious coming out of the kitchen, I asked what it was... flatbread pizza. We ordered the Spring Splash pizza, and it was ridiculously good.

While this place isn't cheap, it's not as expensive as it could be, and it's a cool experience. It was pretty empty when I went (6:30-8 or so on a Thursday night) and one person was working the bar and tables and refilling the wine - not sure if it picks up a bit later on or not.

  • Pros: Good wine selection, neat concept, yummy pizza
  • Cons: Pretty empty

Best Wine Bar in San Diego

by Melbo at Citysearch

My husband and I think this is by far the BEST wine bar in San Diego! The ambiance is lovely and the wine selection is amazing. We have had an opportunity to taste wines that we probably would have never tasted and we have fallen in love with so many of them!

I love that I can try several "splashes" of wine at a low cost and then choose the bottle that we like most. The corkage fee is very low and the bottles of wine are sold at a reasonable price. Very unique selection of wines that are always changing.

There are no other wine bars like this. It really is a true "tasting" environment. Great concept. We will be patrons for life!

  • Pros: Tasting selection of 75 wines at a low price per taste
  • Cons: What are the drawbacks?
