What People Are Saying About Bismillah Restaurant

In Short – Gentle strains of South Asian music waft out the door of this restaurant that specializes in Indian and Pakistani dishes. The white tablecloths and polite waitstaff lead to expectations that the food will be more expensive than it actually is. Highlights include the tender chicken korma and mughlai biryani--curried chicken cooked in basmati rice and flavored with saffron and nuts. Soak up extra sauce with naan, bread that's served piping hot from the tandoor oven.
so disappointing

first off, i love indian food! i really wanted to like this place.
i went to bismillah with my boyfriend and daughter the first time about a year ago. we walked in the door, and were completely ignored for 15 minutes. when the people sitting at the tables started to giggle at how rude the staff was treating us we left.
since my boyfriend had heard such great things about the place we went back a few nights ago.
this time we were the only people in the restaurant. it literally took our young waiter 45 minutes to just bring us our drinks, and thats because we asked him for them. the food was ok. not terrible but ok. it was however, extremely greasy. our bill was 55$ for 2 dinners, 2 apps, and 2 cokes ( oh yeah they have no alcohol)
needless to say i wouldnt go back there.
sorry guys!
- Pros: chutni was good
- Cons: poor service, greasy food
Overpriced, not too tasty
by YumiYumiFood
They charge extra for rice instead of including it with the entree. The fried rice didn't taste too good. A lot of their items are overpriced and the buffet didn't look to sweet. I've been to similar restaurant just east of this place and their food was way better (not to mention worth what you paid for). My lunch here cost $17 with no drink. At the other place $11 (including a drink, naan, and rice).
- Pros: Parking
- Cons: Food and value
VIOLATES LAWS!!!, moldy bread, worst place in san diego
by shaikh
this is the worst PLACE TO EAT you can go to in San Diego. do not go here. Where do I start
The women's bathroom door did not close the whole way, so men passing outside could easily see inside. There was no soap in the restroom either. The trash can was overflowing with dirty napkins. God knows when they last cleaned up in there. I have been to gas station bathrooms much cleaner. The bathroom was in the view of the entire dining room.
This was suppose to be a buffet right. They were violating a number of laws buffet is suppose to follow: They only gave us one plate and expected us to use the same one again each time we took something.
When I requested a plate, they said we gave you one.
The food in the buffet was cold, and tasted at least two days old. I think I saw some mold on my bread, and requested the waiter to bring a new one. He had the nerve to charge me for two.
Horrible horrible experience. I am never going to this place again....rude waiters, out to get your money!!!
Dont waste your time here.
- Pros: None
- Cons: moldy bread, they gave only one plate for t he buffet. old stale food.
