DON'T GET THE PIZZA. I have been visiting Coronado Island for years now, and we have always stopped into Island Pasta for a meal or two. We were there just the other day and I decided to venture away from my usual (Tortellini with Chicken) and got a BBQ Chicken Pizza. It was completely awful. The topping, including the cheese seemed to be quality but the crust was something out of outer space. The crust was like some sort of pre-made cracker. It was obviously manufactured, which would have been fine if it tasted good. Instead the pizza crust was stale and gummy. None of the flavor of the sauce and the toppings didn't penetrate the dough or crust (whatever you want to call it). The best thing I can compare it to is a Lunchable's Pizza (yes, the pre-made lunch snack from Oscar Meyer's). My boyfriend had the Chicken Parmigana and was displeased as well.

Will not disappoint. Yum! We were so happy to discover this place. We are notoriously picky restaurant eaters (I am a good cook, so I expect really good food). Anyway, do yourself a favor and eat here. We ordered cheese pizza, which when it arrived smelled of fresh yeast dough. Not a drop of grease on this pizza. The cheese was perfect, firm but perfectly creamy and the sauce was a nice delicate, not overly seasoned fresh tomato treat. We also ordered the herb chicken, which was served with a side of pasta with homemade pesto sauce. The chicken was roasted and had a nice little crunch to the little bit of skin and the herbs were wonderful...rosemary and a little bit of pepper flakes - cooked perfectly and nice and moist. My husband ordered the spinach chicken, which arrived piping hot and he loved every bite. The food all came out together, all fresh and hot and all exactly how we ordered it. It is a cute little place and the staff was great and friendly and very efficient. We definately will return soon! Too bad we are 100 miles away from this lovely place!!
