Adventures In Bridge. Tricks, doubling, slams, and dummy- all of these words have their meanings in our day to day lives but the terms have a second meaning in the world of bridge. In a local community club, Adventures in Bridge, many gather to "keep their minds sharp" and to socialize with fellow players on any day of the week Monday through Sunday. I spoke with Wirt, who is a director and teacher at the local club, and he gave me some insightful information on the game. With Wirt and fellow director John's assistance, I was able to sit and watch these rounds of strategy and mystery while taking notes on the game. It is easy for beginners and experienced players to come together under one roof while at Adventures since it hosts many tournaments and teaching sessions behind these fun-filled doors. Adventures has been around for over thirty years in Mission Valley and at one point last weekend they had over 300 people on the mornings of August 15th and 16th for a tournament that's held five to six times a year. Ursula, an avid bridge player, said two things she loves about the game are that it has mind and health benefits including help with memorization and socialization. Getting out to one place where most everyone knows most everyone else is a great lift in spirit and mind. I also spoke with a gentleman named Doug who said one of the things he likes about Adventures is that his wife gets to play and keeps her happy. Adventures held the title of being the fourteenth largest club in the United States. To learn more on bridge or Adventures in Bridge, check out the website at adventuresinbridge
