“The service wasn't bad, but still”
“stars only because for all you can eat, a couple of bad pieces of fish is still not bad for the price!”
All you can eat sushi here is a great value here. Good tasting sushi with good ingredients.
lunch all you can eat sushi!!. I swear, sometimes chef think we don't know what good sushi tastes like. Well I do!! The first time I ate here, I was satisfied, but the more I go, the worse the sushi gets.. 3 stars only because for all you can eat, a couple of bad pieces of fish is still not bad for the price!
OK sushi, definitely overpriced, and yes: run by Koreans. It is close, so we go there when we are desperate.. OK sushi, definitely overpriced, and yes: run by Koreans. It is close, so we go there when we are desperate. They have improved since new owners came in a year or so ago. They are consistent, so at least one always knows what to expect- even if it isn't perfect.
Overpriced "fake" sushi restaurant run by Korean. This is the only Japanese restaurant in Mira Mesa that has something that at least remotely resembles Japanese food, so despite less than satisfactory experience I have gone there several times. It is basically run by Korean and all the chefs are Korean, who have slight misunderstanding of Japanese. For example, "-don" usually means "rice bowl", like "gyu-don": beef-on-rice as served in Yoshinoya, "katsu-don": katsu-on-rice. When I ordered "sashimi-don" they gave me sashimi over raw veggies but no rice. After eating raw fish on a bowl of salad I felt cold and hungry. "tekka-don" at least contains a thin layer of cold rice in bento-box so technically it is tekka-don. But any real donburi must have a round bowl (literal meaning of don) with hot rice in it. It is a shame they did not decide to open Korean food restaurant because I really like Korean food, and I have to go to Convoy st for if I want Korean food.
I would avoid - The meal is not worth any amount of money.
First I should have known something was up when there was hip-hop playing on the stereo and no one else was in the restaurant. I should have also been leery when they asked me if I wanted all I could eat for a fixed price.
I sat alone at the sushi bar ordered a spider roll, a California hand roll, the special nigiri Toro and Ebi and Yellow tail nigiri. While I waited, I noticed that most of the fish was precut.
They gave me the spider roll first. The presentation was nice but the tempura was cold and tasted greasy.
I then got the hand roll. It was the only redeeming item. It was nicely filled with shreded crab, avocado and rice with a nice touch of the bottom being folded in under so nothing would fall out.
I then got the nigiri and it did not look that appealing. The Toro was wet / slimy. It was suppose to be their special of the day and was so bad I could not eat the second piece. It looked like they rinsed it off with water. I then eat the ebi, it was limp and the yellowtail did not have the nice oily taste that I love.
In summary, the fish was not fresh, the tempura was cold, but the service was good. The meal was not worth it at any price."
