  1. Ok, best apartment price tag in the area, but possible mold, bad neighbors
  2. Their prices SEEM reasonable only if you consider it to be the way they sugarcoat it to be.
  3. In fact, it is usually the best price you can get in all of La Jolla's apartments.

Worst place in La Jolla

by edwardplowe at Citysearch

I've apartment hopped for 6 years and have lived in 7 different complexes. And BY FAR, La Regencia is the worst.

First of all, the mangement staff is HORRIBLE. When I was in the process of moving in, they were just fine. However, as soon as I became a resident, it all changed. They were unfriendly, incompetent, and like another reviewer noted, they were apparently out to take your money. Also, I have had the same problem of sending in a rent and it being "lost".

Secondly, EVERYTHING breaks and their maintenance is the WORST in SD. Just to name a few, elevator broke down a few times a month, toilets, washer/dryer, screen doors, and other things broke very frequently. And even worse, it took about a week or two AT BEST for anyone to come and attempt to fix them.

There are few other MAIN problems: 1. the units have thin walls and ceilings so noise penetrates very easily. 2. parking is a pain in the butt. etc...

Honestly speaking, you could find SUCH BETTER places in the similar price range or maybe a tad more. My roommates and I were SO HAPPY that we finally got to move out and that is very COMMON among other residents as well.

They still GET BUSINESS because of such HIGH demands for apartments in La Jolla/UTC area. Their prices SEEM reasonable only if you consider it to be the way they sugarcoat it to be. I lived in La Regencia for a good year and I would never live here again UNLESS they hire a new management and learn to cater to their customers instead of thinking they have any authority over us CUSTOMERS.

In the end, it's just a review and feel free to take it or leave it. However, I could personally guarantee you, you will feel similarly.

There are SO MANY other nice and newly built apartments with friendly and helpful management. La Regencia should be an option only if your other option is you "car". Wait, at least your car is free. I'm going to have to think a bit more about that.

  • Pros: Spacious
  • Cons: Horrible and unfriendly management, lack of maintanence, horrible value, loud, parking is a b*tch
