Like most people I was hesitant to find a new dentist and schedule an appt... putting it off for years. Upon my first call, I found the receptionist/front desk girl a little off-putting. She didn't seem to understand the questions I was asking and didn't explain things in a friendly manner. I was just trying to figure out what they would do at a first appointment with a new person and how much it would cost. And I was surprised to be told that they wouldn't be doing a cleaning (because they didn't know what type of cleaning I would need and how long it would take, having never seen my mouth) and that the xrays and exam would take two hours. But, I scheduled the appointment anyway. The first day I was there was a busy day and I did have to wait for a good half hour before being seen. But, with the wait, I had the x rays done and the exam all within the two hours they told me. I liked the Dr. and staff (except the girl that does appts.) very much and felt very involved in the care of my teeth. I was told I had two small cavities that would need to be taken care of. And we discussed some cosmetic work that I was thinking about doing. They actually didn't suggest whitening my teeth, they said I have a nice color. Someone added up all the costs for the future cleaning (diagnosed at the first appt/exam), the cavity treatment, and the cosmetic work and retainer that I requested. They did offer a discount for paying in advance which I took and paid. Of course, I could have gone on a payment plan. But it did seem to be required that I pay for everything in advance even though some of the work would be done over 2 month's time. My 2nd appt for cleaning and cavities was fantastic, less wait, friendly, no pain. And I am proceeding with the cosmetic work now. No one likes the dentist. No one likes to spend money on dental work. No one likes to wait. But all in all I am happy so far.

Pros: Local, Friendly, reasonable prices for a non-insurance patient

Cons: no weekend and evening hours

I'll keep this brief. After reading a couple of the previous reviews, i have to comment about my experience with this dental practice.I did read some of the previous comments, and I have to say my experience was quite different. Or maybe, diffferent people interpret things differently. I arrived for my 1st visit, and was presented with paperwork. Upon completion, i had xrays taken, and soon after my exam. Of course there was wait time, while they processed my forms, and my xrays, but I was informed from the beginning that my appt would take about 2 hours, so I expected this time. Once the doctor told me what I needed, he explained everything, and kindly answered all my questions, and asured me my work could be completed in a timely manner. No, I didnt have a cleaning on my 1st visit, but again, I was told that I wouldnt from the beginning. A nice girl went over all of my treatment, and explained how my insurance worked, andwhat I would ave to pay for my treatment. This is where opinions may differ. yes, I was given the option to pay up front, which would entitle me to a discount, but when I told them I couldnt do that, I was given several other options. But imagine you made a reservation at a fine restaurant, or hotel, or surgery. A lot of businesses ask for a deposit ahead of time to ensure your commitment to a reserved time, or place. Why sould a dental office be any different. They are a business after all, with prescious time and other patients to see. Some people feel so entitled to free work these days, and need to realize things arent the way they used to be. I am very happy with this office. My other complaint is the cost of my care. And guess what...That issue is with my insurance plan, not Tierra Town Dental.

Pros: Friendly, informative, good hours, good location, they accept insurance

Cons: No weekend hours
