Editorial Review for Mandarin Garden Restaurant – by Maren Dougherty
In Short
Behind the large red doors that separate the business from mall shops is a tranquil, traditional Chinese eatery. A relaxing atmosphere is created with Jade-colored décor and the gentle strains of classical Chinese music that drift through the dining area. Couples and families select from the menu of sweet, savory and spicy specialties. Popular entrees include the almond chicken, sautéed shrimp with chili sauce and sliced chicken with black mushrooms.

I began to frequent this restaurant when some friends turned me on to the "Tan Tan" noodle soup. It's a spicy peanut & noodle soup. It's the only thing I've tried on the menu, but it's great. It goes well with some of the fruity drinks and desserts on the menu. The people who work there are really nice too. It's one of a group of Asian restaurants in the Mira Mesa and Convoy areas that I began preferring to go to on Saturday nights. They aren't as packed as the chains and places in hipper parts of town, and you usually get much better service. The only places I know of where you can get service that good on a Saturday night cost more than twice as much.
Pros: Good parking, Friendly, Inexpensive
Cons: A little hard to find
