Dining, stiff, formal expensive and food not good.
We were staying nearby and wanted a nice restaurant. We went there for dinner. The large formal dining room overlooks a beautiful golf course but was stiffly formal. The food was not good, it was very expensive and the overall experience was clearly not worth it.

Total Rating....
We had reservations at Rancho Bernardo Inn for the past 3 years and we also have it this year.
The grounds and ambience are absolutely fabulous and totally romantic. People are happy and reflect the surroundings. I love to come here.
However, the past few years have been extremely disappointing in regards to the hotel cafe 'Veranda' (I believe it is called) for breakfast. It took us a total of 2 hours to get noticed, served coffee, order taken and food was cold! The standard here seems to be totally disproportionate to all other occomodations!.. What a shame. Food for breakfast just isn't up to par and cost is far too much for what is received.
I would suggest a review of their service and fare regarding their restaurant.

Boycott this restaurant to help stop animal cruelty!.
The Animal Protection and Rescue League asks you to boycott this restaurant to help stop animal cruelty.
El Bizcocho continues to serve fois gras, the liver of ducks or geese which have endured weeks of force feeding, performed by jamming large metal pipes down their throats and filling them with massive quantities of food -- the equivalent of forcing a 150 pound human to eat 60 pounds of food per day.
The livers of these poor birds swell up to ten times their normal size, inducing a disease called "hepatic lipidosis". These fattened, diseased livers are served as foie gras.
Please call El Bizcocho and inquire if they are still serving fois gras. If so, then please let them know that you choose not to patronize restaurants which engage in this horrific cruelty.
Your call will make a difference!
