Best of the Best. Love this place. A+ for ambiance, presentation & food. The specials usually knock us off our socks. Great organic coffee and tea selection. Don't forget to ask for the juice of the day and the ice cream/sorbet specials. Had this cantaloupe sorbet the other day & it tasted like the real fruit. Service is casual and friendly. Don't go anywhere Kitchen 4140 - you'll be seeing us.

What a find. What a random find - definitely worth the drive out of downtown. Can I give this place 10 stars.

Unassuming from the outside, except for an Orange Awning - you walk in & this cool, urban, eco place is at your midst.

Service - A+ for friendliness, Chef Kurt came out to greet the tables & make sure people were happy

Food - comfort gourmet, well seasoned, & nicely presented. The best Beer Braised Short Rib Sandwich with this mango/slaw chutney. My girl had the Ahi over Soba noodles - super savory & fresh (of course I had a bite).

Drinks - french press Certified Organic Coffees & Teas great mochas - peppermint patty & the Vanilla Chai were awesome.

Atmosphere - cool organic garden outside, check it out

Can't wait to bring back more friends. Our new favorite spot for breakfast & lunch. Looks like they are acclaimed for catering too.

Deeeelicious!. We met the Kitchen 4140 team at the I love Poke Fest last week. Chef Kurt & Andy won the competition at the Bali Hai. They were so friendly & I loved their winning Ahi dish. We checked out their website & it looked really cool. My bf & I could not believe that the restaurant is in our neighborhood & we didn't even know it.

We gave it a shot for breakfast on Sunday & really enjoyed ourselves. The servers were really friendly, helpful, and gave us good suggestions. We were lucky enough to see Chef Kurt & Andy again!!

We shared the out of this world Red Velvet Pancakes with a cream cheese whipped topping, bing cherry maple syrup. I could not believe that they don't use food coloring - they are naturally made red with real cocoa & a splash of vinegar (you don't taste the vinegar). The hot chai was super yummy, not overly sweet. I enjoyed the perfectly poached eggs with mushrooms & a beurre blanc sauce. My bf got really southern & tried the country fried steak with beef gravy - ooh ooh, so so good.

Overall, an A+ experience. We even went back for lunch & enjoyed some of the specials on the board. Apparently they change the specials everyday. The Ahi salad with heirlooms & mango was not only beautiful to look at, but wonderful to the taste. The prices are so affordable considering the quality & taste. We are seriously Kitchen 4140 groupies now:))

Talk of the Town. We had met Chef Kurt & team a year ago as he catered my parents 50th Anniversary party. We were thrilled to hear he opened up his new Bistro a few months ago.

This restaurant has managed to achieve a stylish, yet comfortable atmosphere. They really know what they are doing.

Best words to describe the Food: Comfort *Inspired* Gourmet - 2 sides of the coin: some "die in your mouth" decadent things like the Kobe Beef Patty melt with a pimento aged cheddar sauce covered with a Toasted Rosemary-Thyme bread, or a healthy Concept Salad with berries and nuts. My ten year old son loved the Bacon Leek gnocchi. My girls enjoyed the Raspberry Vanilla Italian sodas - the servers/baristas/Tearistas are great.

So happy they opened up in the Clairemont area. Looks like they definitely have a following. My kids loved learning about the produce/herbs outside in their Organic garden.

Will be back again for brunch - heard they started Sunday Brunch a few weeks ago.

Best Organic Food in San Diego!!!!!!!!. Kitchen 4140 We were greeted by the friendly staff and also by Chef Kurt. The food was excellent even our 4year old Daughter loved it. I had the Sauteed Butter Fish with Pesto Roasted Potatoes and Truffle Oil and my husband had the Lamb and Frites with Heirloom Tomatoes wow two amazing dishes. Also have to say that my Chai Tea was also delicious. We will definitely eat at The Kitchen 4140 again, when we are in San Diego.

Hip, Urban & delicious. Finally, the best new breakfast & lunch spot has arrived in San Diego. It's in an unusual location outside of downtown in the Morena Design area. I first saw this restaurant featured in San Diego Home & Garden Magazine. It was reviewed by David Nelson & thought we ought to give it a shot. We love the ambiance, the outdoor organic garden & the fact that it's an open kitchen concept. Chef Kurt greeted us warmly & was very friendly. Definitely go for some of the daily specials as they are very inspired. Some of my favs so far: Shitake mushroom soup infused with arugula & pesto, Chicken with basil, chili & meyer lemon, steak sandwich. My friends love their Kobe Beef burger - they said it's the best in town. Very affordable considering the quality. We'll be back for sure!
