SImply great fried chicken!
by Lonathon at Citysearch
My girlfriend suggested we go to "Crispy's". She didn't get the name right but, I'm glad she bought up the idea. It's located on El Cajon Blvd near Hoover High. The outside and inside remind you of a taco shop small and efficient but not the type of place you want to dine in. The menu is on a a deli board behind the counter with a list of great combos. I'm a fan of the 12 shrimp combo which comes with two sides. You must try their hush puppies. Perfect place to stop by and pick up a meal on the way home.
- Pros: Great food at a great value.
- Cons: Location and decor

Chicken dinners to die for come with two sides at City Heights's roadside mecca for southern-fried comfort food.

In Short
As if indulging in deep-fried, dark meat chicken thighs wasn't naughty enough, City Height's Crispy Fried Chicken serves them up in those so-faux pas Styrofoam containers. A trip to this legendary fried chicken joint proves that sometimes, just sometimes, it's good to be bad. They do offer white meat and drumstick dinners, too, with a choice of sides like coleslaw and corn, as well as a few fried fish entrees. The restaurant itself is nothing to write home about (or even really dine in), which is fine by us if it helps maintain the bite-sized prices. Even with a side or two and a soda, the artery-clogging, environmentally unfriendly, incredibly tasty crispy chicken dinners won't set you back more than $10.
