Great Bar Area. My friend and I went into the bar area one very busy night to get drinks and appetizers. The service was excellent, food - tasty and just enough, although a little pricey, but what the heck - it was Christmas season (oops) Holiday season.

The tables were all close together which made it great to talk to the people on both sides of us. Everyone was in a festive mood.

A truly beautiful restaurant. This has to be one of the most beautiful restaurants in San Diego. The food was delicious, the service was exceptional, and the ambience was perfect for a date. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice night out.

Excellent for special occasions, or just because. This was our first time to the Prado. We absolutely loved it. It was a Friday night and we were seated immediately. We were served water with lemon and breadsticks with hommos right away. The server was attentive and took our drink order and appetizer order really quickly. The appetizer, portobella mushrooms with whipped goat cheese, came immediately, and was exquisite!! My husband ordered the salmon, and I ordered the chicken. The salmon came in a blood-orange sauce with grapefruit and apples. I don't like fish, but I tried it and it really was great, he loved it. The chicken was served over garlic mashed potatoes and garden greens (spinach) with a garlic gravy. It was superb! Hints of rosemary complimented it perfectly. We topped it all off with the recommended dessert, Belgian Chocolate "Othello". Dark and milk chocolate mousse, with carmalized cherries; all atop a soft hazlenut cookie. Perfect for two to share. He had the mojito, which he says is a "perfect classic mojito". I had the mango iced tea, very refreshing. The server was great and all of the food runners were polite and attentive. We never ran out of beverages and dirty plates were removed promptly! Sitting on the back patio at night was very romantic, with a great view of a quaint garden complete with wishing well. The Prado is located right in the middle of Balboa Park, near all of the museums so there is ample parking. If you want to walk through the park, which we highly recommend; it is georgous at night. We would reccomend this restaurant to anyone. It was such a great experience. We will definately be going back!!

OMG THE KOBI BEEF ROLLS MELT LIKE BUTTER. My husband and I went to the Prado this evening for our bitrhdays and our anniversary and it was Amazing!!! We had the best waitress and the food was to die for. We had the kobi beef rolls just like a few of you others and it seemed to melt in your mouth! Every thing was just delicious. My husband had the New york Steak while I chose the Shrimp Pasta both were great!! I just wish we had room to try a dessert!

AMAZING FOOD!!!!. My goodness - I do not have enough adjectives to describe the level of excellence at which this restaurant operates. The decor was unique and the food divine. We sat on the patio and were shocked that the meal just kept getting better and better! We had the Kobe beef sushi rolls, mahi mahi fish tacos and the skirt steak beef tacos for lunch. The chef definitely knows what he/she's doing when it comes to beef. YYUUUMMMMYY! My husband and I are still talking about it! The only negative was that our waiter had a ring of white powder around both of his nostrils throughout our meal, which was rather unsightly, (but funny) and he was absent for most of our meal. However, where he dropped the ball the incredible bus staff were right there to pick it up.

Nice Restaurant in a Wonderful Setting. The Prado is located in a wonderful setting along museum row in Balboa Park. We have thoroughly enjoyed our 2 experiences at the Prado. We always opt for sitting outside on the patio to enjoy the weather and the activities outside in the park.

Our meals at the Prado have always been well prepared and satisfying. We especially enjoyed the wonderful appetizers and creative salads.

The waitstaff is attentative and knowledgeable.

The prices are medium/high.

Reservations are recommended

All said and done, The Prado is a good choice for a special occasion dining experience in a beautiful setting.

Great place to treat yourself.. With a friendly, knowledgeable wait staff, an expertly executed menu full of creative and interesting choices, and a beautiful setting in the middle of Balboa Park, this has become one of my favorite restaurants in San Diego. Whether you're looking for a light lunch before you peruse the museums, or you're celebrating an anniversary, this place never disappoints.

I would have to agree that the patio is certainly the place to be, although there's nothing wrong with the inside of the restaurant.

They have the best calamari in town - tender, fresh, and tossed with the most tasty asian sauce. It's consistent with the overall concept of the menu: something familiar and classic with an exciting and unexpected twist.
