The same day that Erin reported (on Channel 93.3) about the lemon cupcake at Influx, I decided to try one that same day. I went later that same morning. I pass the place nearly every day on my way to work, but have never gone in. Upon entering, the place felt kind of empty, although there were some people sitting at a couple of the tables. As I approached the front counter, I could see that the display case held only what looked like bags of potato chips. On top of the display case was a small array of breakfast baked goods and pastries. I was greeted by a couple of guys who seemed friendly and offerred their assistance. As I perused the menu on the wall, there were salad and sandwich items, espresso drink varieties and blends, breakfast baked goods, but no cupcakes listed! Instead of it being a total loss for not finding a lemon cupcake, I opted to purchase the Blended 1 which is a cold blended espress-based drink mixed with banana and chocolate. It was good. Perhaps if I visit Influx in the afternoon or evening, the cupcakes will be there. However, how can a place be mentioned about having yummy cupcakes when they are not listed on the menu, nor even there when someone mentions a great place to go get them? A bit disappointing....

I love this place. As if the free wireless, excellent coffee and it's comfortable atmosphere weren't enough, influx probably has one of the best sandwich deli's in San Diego. I love them all but the feta 1 and Ham 1 are probably my favorites. Feta 1 is feta cheese, a roasted eggplant spread, red onion, tomato and lettuce on focaccia. The Ham 1 is black forest, pineapple spread, red onion, tomato and arugala on a fresh baked roll. Also try the 'Goat Salad' goat cheese, dried cranberries, candied pecans and mixed greens to which you can add chicken, turkey or blackforest ham. They also feature a breakfast menu which i haven't really been explored too thoroughly yet...but i did try the bagel melt which had turkey, swiss and a house pesto. they are an assortment of other bagels, croissants and pastries to choose to accompany your coffee. (if you are feeling like indulging, don't forget to try blended 1!!!)
Pros: Great Service, excellent food, outdoor patio
Cons: absolutely none.
