Went here because its was 4 1/2 stars on CitySearch, only to find out that it was nothing special. Had the Mariah Special Breakfast - chicken fried steak with 2 eggs, hash browns and biscuits - $8 for breakfast, plus $2 for hot tea. The eggs were good, but were served on a cold plate so they went cold really quickly. The hashbrowns were gross.... overcooked mush that were then fried crispy on one side, raw on the other. The biscuits were good sized and looked good but were actually more like soft rolls than biscuits in consistency. Good but not what I was expecting (perhaps my southern roots are showing? No one makes biscuits like they do back home!) The steak was OK, covered in some sort of white gravy, not that much taste. All told, $12 with tip... I had a better breakfast yeasterday at Marie Callanders for about the same price.
Pros: good location in downtown (??) Carlsbad
Cons: food was nothing to write home about; greasy plastic-covered tabletops
