The Rock is a great church - and the only one I have ever felt at home in. Through the years I had heard so much about The Rock, but I first visited back in October of '06. I started going on a regular basis back in February until we had to move to LA in May. The Rock is the first church I have attended where I felt God working - where you could feel the Holy Spirit alive and truly working through people. The Rock is a Christian church, headed by Miles McPherson (yes, a former SD Chargers player). Miles' personality is part of what makes The Rock great. His sermons are interesting, informative, and entertaining. He preaches God's Word in a way that's easy to understand, and relates it to your everyday life so you can take what you've learned and LIVE it. There are many different service times offered, so you're sure to find one that will fit with your schedule. (When the new facility opens 8/26, I've heard the Saturday night services will be ending) The Rock is a pretty big church, and I know it's easy to feel like a small fish in a big pond. For that reason, they really endorse involvement in small groups. They offer several classes (such as Boot Camp) that will help you feel more involved in the church as well, and help you get to know God on a more personal level. The Rock is a wonderful place, and I am so sad that I can't attend on a regular basis anymore. If you're looking for a great church in SD, chances are you've already heard about The Rock. Take the first step and go to a service (new facility is in a beautiful building in Point Loma - Liberty Station). The services are contemporary and applicable to everyday life. Whether you're a new believer, someone reaffirming your faith, or looking to deepen your relationship with the Lord, give The Rock a try. I bet you'll be glad you did.

Cons: Parking at Ruffin Road location can be a challenge, hopefully that will be improved at Libery Station.
