Great casual atmosphere, fun drinks!
by perschsl at Citysearch
This is one of my favorite places to wind down on a Friday night. The varied polynesian-style menu provides something for everyone, from soup to sushi. And although the food is casual and uncomplicated, it's still absolutely delicious. But the best thing about Mister Tiki Mai Tai Lounge is the drinks. With cheeky names (Horny Monkey, anyone?) and fruity flavors, you can't go wrong with any of their concoctions. Great fun for everyone!
OVERPRICED SUBPAR FOOD AND TERRIBLE SLLLLLLLOOOOOOOWWWWWW SERVICE
by MissEastlake at Citysearch
BEWARE: THERE IS AN AUTOMATIC 18% GRATUITY FOR POOR SERVICE. SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE AND EXTREMELY SLLLLLOOOOWWWW. I recently had a birthday dinner there for 15 people and had made reservations at 8pm. We were assured to be seated immediately when half of our party was there, but my entire party arrived on time and we were still not seated. We got seated at 8:50pm. I asked the hostess serveral times when we'll be seated given that there were tables open and a good number of servers running around. The hostess appeared oblivious and uncaring of our situation. She repeatedly said there was nothing she could do. After we had been seated and ordered our food another party of 10 ten that was seated 20 minutes AFTER we had been seated, received all their food at the same time before our table did. When our food finally started trickling in an hour later, one dish came at a time 10-15 minutes apart. So it was territble because we didn't eat together as a group. The first person was long done with their food when others had not even received their order. Our server was difficult to flag done and we constantly had to beg for water and refills. BOTTOMLINE: UNLESS YOU WANT TO WAIT FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS FOR OVERPRICED SUBPAR SUSHI, SO CALLED HAWAIIAN FOOD, AND INSUFFICIENT SERVICE, THEN THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!!!
- Pros: Nice ambiance.
- Cons: Slow service, not point in making reservations because you will not get seated at that time, overpriced subpar sushi, servers provide poor service for groups because there is an automatic 18% gratuity
Kahlua Pork rocks!
by mikendesi at Citysearch
My husband and I were roaming around Gaslamp looking for a place to eat. We were headed to Croce's when we found this place right across the street. We decided to eat here instead based solely on the Kahlua Pork Quesadilla. The ambience is totally fun. Our waitress was a bit on the slow side but all other servers were fantastic! The Kahlua Pork Quesadilla was excellent and would've been enough for us had we known how big it was going to be. We also did the Dim Sum sampler and a sushi roll plus dessert. I didn't like the dessert selection and could've done without the dim sum, but the sushi was real good. But, if I ever went back it would be solely for the Kahlua Pork Quesadilla.
- Pros: ambience, Kahlua Pork Quesadilla

the drinks are so tasty and not that pricey and the service was slow but very nice and friendly, the decor was amazing and the drummer boy was fun to watch.
- Pros: good drinkage
- Cons: a little slow service
The islands come to life in this Gaslamp tribute to Tiki tradition. Portions are perfect for sharing.

In Short
Whether paying homage to Don Ho or donning a grass skirt, Mister Tiki offers a slice of island life in the heart of the Gaslamp. A rare theme bar in the trendy district, the totem poles remind patrons of tiki customs like sharing, which is encouraged when ordering from the Pacific Rim-flavored menu. Order pu-pus and dim sum, and wash them down with the Mondo Martiki, the house special drink that serves four.
