The staff is friendly and helpful, the day care facility is great and the Doctors are caring, knowledgeable and dedicated. They saved the life of our 10 year old terrier and took great care of our 110lb puppy! My favorite vet ever.

I have been totally impressed with the service and knowledge of the compassionate staff at Acacia Animal Center. I have gone through losing a beloved pet to a coyote and adopting a puppy with the helpful staff there. All the vets and assistants genuinely love animals and it shows. I got not just one but several follow up calls to check on our puppy when she had a problem. Although I have not boarded my dog there I have a close friend that does on a regular basis, and has highly recommended that part of the facility also. Thank you Acacia!!
Pros: willing to do whatever they can to accommodate or help
Cons: occassionally I've had about 1/2 hour wait time

They did a great job during the fires. This person who wrote the bad review is INCORRECT and has no knowledge to the interworking of this hospital. I’ve been going there since there inception and NOT once have they done any thin wrong. WHOS fault is it your mother lives pay check to pay check. Maybe she should have gone to School or made some better financial decisions in life. As for you may be you should that hand outs don’t work when you’re running a business. Just so you know should you read this, I work for the county. The county reimbursed an allowance to the participating faculties, WHICH, in my opinion several facilities are substandard. It really disappoints me for someone like this to put down a CLASS A establishment that has a huge presence in the community. SHAME ON YOU.
Pros: Class A establishment for pet care
Cons: NA

I’m an employee at Acacia Animal Health Center and actually spoke to the above person when she called. Dr. Gallerstein did not speak with the above person nor did he ever deny any financial assistance regarding boarding. The person (above) asked if we were participating in the County program and offering boarding at no charge. I advised the owner that we were not. She was too quick to judge and abrupt. If given a chance to explain, then she would have known that we would’ve done something for her mother’s birds. It’s a shame the birds had to spend the night in the car because we would’ve been more than willing to help your mother out. I want to give a huge THANK YOU to Dr. Gallerstein for doing such a wonderful service to the community by remaining open during all this chaos. He and his family were evacuated, yet he was determined to keep the hospital open to help anyone in need. For the last few days the lobby at Acacia has been full with several families (who have been evacuated) and Dr. Gallerstein has been supplying them all with a safe haven and plenty of food. Even though he was running on empty (no sleep, worried about his house, his family/friends. Employees)…. By remaining open he took in several animals that needed to be evacuated. Thank you for being there for those in need and thank you for caring. You truly are “pet passionate” and it shows.
Pros: Staff, large new facility and cleanliness
Cons: can't think of any

NOV. 6TH RESPONSE: DEAR EMPLOYEE: I CAN UNDERSTAND YOUR NEED TO RESPOND AND EFFORT TO EXPLAIN MR. GALLERSTEIN'S DECISION NOT TO ASSIST (FINANCIALLY) WHEN I CALLED DURING OUR DESPERATE TIME OF NEED. HAD I BEEN AWARE OF A "COUNTY PROGRAM" I WOULD NEVER HAD CALLED YOU IN THE FIRST PLACE - THE BIRDS WOULD HAVE BEEN PLACED IN A FACILITY THAT WAS PARTICIPATING. THEREFORE, YOUR STATEMENT THAT I ASKED IF YOU WERE PARTICIPATING IN THE PROGRAM IS UNTRUE. FURTHERMORE, YOU PLACED ME ON HOLD WHILE YOU CALLED MR. GALLERSTEIN AND ASKED IF HE COULD TAKE THE BIRDS AND YOUR RESPONSE WAS HE COULD BUT WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY THE NORMAL RATES. WHEN I ASKED IF THERE COULD BE A DISCOUNT, YOU SAID NO BECAUSE YOU HAVE TAKEN IN OTHER ANIMALS AND ARE CHARGING THE NORM AND IF YOU DID IT FOR US YOU WOULD HAVE TO DO IT FOR EVERYONE. PLEASE, LETS JUST ACKNOWLEDGE THAT MR. GALLERSTEIN USED POOR JUDGEMENT WHEN THIS REQUEST WAS POSED TO HIM. I'M SORRY TO HEAR THAT HE WAS ALSO EVACUATED AND HOPE THAT HE AND HIS FAMILY ARE ALL WELL - PETS INCLUDED. I HOPE THAT MR. GALLERSTEIN HAS LEARNED SOMETHING FROM HIS EXPERIENCE (BEING EVACUATED FROM HIS HOME) . I'M SURE SOMEONE EXTENDED A HELPING HAND TO HIM IN HIS TIME OF NEED. PERHAPS NEXT TIME HE WILL PAY IT FORWARD Oct. 22, 2007 RE: SAN DIEGO FIRES MR. GALLERSTEIN, OWNER OF ACACIA ANIMAL HOSPITAL, DENIED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO MY MOTHER WHEN SHE WAS EVACUATED FROM HER HOME AND NEEDED A PLACE TO TAKE HER 2 SMALL BIRDS FOR THE NIGHT. SHE, LIKE MOST, LIVE PAY-CHECK TO PAY-CHECK AND HE WOULDN'T EVEN ALLOW FOR A DISCOUNT ON HIS DAILY RATES IN THIS TIME OF NEED. MR. GALLERSTEIN, SHAME ON YOU FOR NOT TAKING CARE OF THOSE IN YOUR COMMUNITY - THEY CERTAINLY TAKE CARE OF YOU BY BRINGING THEIR ANIMALS TO YOUR FACILITY - AS MY MOTHER HAS DONE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. YOUR TELEPHONE GREETING SAYS THAT YOU ARE "PET PASSIONATE PEOPLE" WELL, IF YOU ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT PETS, WHY ARE THOSE 2 LITTLE BIRDS SPENDING A NIGHT IN A COLD CAR BREATHING SOOT AND ASH?
