Love this place for so many reasons: Amazing service, stylists, environment, scalp massages, and more...

When I moved to San Diego, I was nervous about finding a new stylist I could trust. Some friends told me about Jet Rhys and I?ve been hooked since the first haircut. I didn?t even tell the stylist what to do, I just explained my problem areas and before I knew it, he had crafted an amazing style that was totally easy to manage. I rarely make a style request and trust that they will know what?s best and they always give me the latest cut that perfectly complements my hair type and face shape. Most recently, they suggested a color change, which I was all for, but terrified of how we could possibly remove the jet black color I have been dying into my hair for 3 years without damaging it. I don?t know exactly what Jet did, but she was able to remove the black without any damage and return my hair to its natural color, without adding anything additional. All I can tell you is that my hair is back to its natural hue and I?m trying to grow it out per they?re latest recommendation! By the way, the neck and scalp massage is totally worth a visit on its own. I have to admit; I started spacing out my color and cuts, so I could get a double dose of the experience.
Awesome!

I moved here a couple of years ago, and was freaked out to have to find a new hair salon, but I had heard a lot about this place so I decided to try it. Thank goodness I did! I called first and spoke to the receptionist and she was so helpful and patient with all my questions. I walked in and was greeted with a smile, and I always am to this day. The folks there are so nice, and not snobby like most salons. I was booked with Heather and she is amazing, and I still see her to this day. The vibe is relaxed, and they dont pressure you into any kind of cut you dont want. They are patient and will work with you so you get the cut you want, which is nice. I highly recommend this salon to anyone.
- Pros: staff
- Cons: parking

I went to the salon with straight shoulder length hair. I told the stylist, Kree, that I was growing it out but wanted some long layers to give it more volume. I have no idea what she was thinking! She cut the front so short and the back has no layers. It's dangerously close to being a mullet. It doesn't work with my face or hair type and it's not what I asked for. I think she knew it was bad because she curled my hair when she styled it so I didn't notice how uneven the cut was. I can't believe I paid $70 plus tip to look like I got my hair cut at supercuts. Stay away from this salon!
- Pros: The stylist was very nice
- Cons: Everything else
Great Vibe

I got my hair cut here while I was on vacation and really enjoyed it. Everyone had a great attitude and you could tell they were excited about what they do! Melissa gave me a great cut, that I got tons of complements on for the rest of the trip. I wish I could bring her to Providence.
- Pros: friendly staff, good skill on cut
- Cons: none for me
KICK ASS...Hands down, the best salon I've found....it's a shame I'm moving

Ok, first and foremost, truly amazing girls that did my hair: Melissa for the cut and Aubrey for the color. I came in to fix what another stylist had done 2 days prior?at a RC salon. The previous stylist didn't give me a bad haircut/color....just thought it needed more and I feel like she didn't put in her finest efforts (last appt of the day). Anyway, these girls listened to what I wanted to do. Melissa and Aubrey's skills and experience have rendered them as mind readers....they just did a great job! I have medium length hair (now layered very cutely) and blonde hair that I like natural-looking with a dash of loud in it. I'm in the military and I can't be too crazy creative, and they came out with the best mix. I would most definitely go again, however, I'm moving across the country....so sad, considering that I just found the salon I've been looking for for years! Melissa and Aubrey are most definitely masters of their craft.
- Pros: Skill
- Cons: Parking

I went into this salon thinking (because of all the great reviews) I would get a great cut and color. Totally wrong- the worst hair cut Ive ever had and literally the worst coloring job anyone has ever done. I now have to go to Sally Beauty Supply and buy a semi permanent glaze to tide me over until my best friend can fix my hair next month. I paid 200$ and I seriously want my money back. The sad thing is both girls who did my hair were saying "Oh it looks so great, I love it...blah blah blah" Its awful and now I may have to cut my long hair to get rid of my mullet. Fabulous- Do not go to this salon.
NOT BAD

I got my hair cut by DANI and she was WONDERFUL. although i wish i would of stressed the fact i wanted a lot of layers.. she gave me layers but i wish i would of got more. anyways i made an appointment with a color with quinn... im going to see her today so hope it goes well :)
- Pros: Fun, stylish, cool salon and staff
- Cons: kinda expensive and PARKING!
The worst hair I've ever had -- and paid $450!!!

The worst salon in San Diego. I went in with long beautiful hair and told my hair stylist to give me a few layers and "leave it long." I walked out looking like a punk rock boy which is what my stylist looked like. I guess she figured I wanted HER haircut. What part of "leave it long" means you can cut off 8 inches of hair?? I've been crying for 3 days over the hair cut. Every time I see myself in the mirror I burst into tears. The color was nothing great, either. And the best part? A color and cut that left me crying and upset cost $450!! It's the worst experience I've ever had at a salon anywhere. I've actually lost sleep over the experience, I've been so upset. It's going to take years to grow back what they chopped off in one day. Stay away and save yourself.
- Pros: Nothing
- Cons: Ridiculously over-priced (unless $450 for a cut & color is OK with you)
Best in San Diego

After trying numerous salons in the North County, where I live, I finally decided to make the drive to Hillcrest to give Jet Rhys a try. Boy am I glad I did! This salon is awesome! I was wary of it being "too trendy" or of paying for the "hip factor", but honestly nothing cound be farther than the actual experience. The service here is top notch, everyone is very friendly and unaffected, even if they are hipsters. Quinn does my color and she is amazing. And super nice. Dani does my cuts and just gave me the best haircut I've ever had. Love these girls, and everyone else at Jet Rhys- professional, friendly and do a great job all for about the same price as salons who don't do half as good a job...give them a try!
- Pros: Highly skilled stylists and colorists
- Cons: parking
best cut and color

This place is just great! I recently move to San Diego and I was completely afraid of going to any salon, but this place is excellent. Melissa cuts my hair, I didn't have to tell her what I wanted, I just told her my problem areas and she gave my a haircut that is just perfect, wash and wear, everything I wanted. Trisha did my color, I have very dark hair so is kind of difficult to get great natural highlights that don't look fake, she listened to what I wanted and gave exactly what I asked for but 10 times better... They're just amazing!!!!
- Pros: Scalp massage!!!!
- Cons: parking
Best Color & Highlights

I LOVED my color & cut from Jet Rhys. My colorist, Aubrey, did such an excellent job. It's been a month since my color & highlights but I still find myself admiring the color in the mirror. The staff her is super nice. The tv's above the shampoo bowl may be a bit "over the top" but it is a cool touch. I love this salon and highly recommend for those who like to look great.
- Pros: Everything
- Cons: Nothing
