I got a terrible color and cut from stylist Sergio at Earth Salon in Encinitas. Dark roots, and the cut drooped around my face, impossible to style. It was so bad that two stylists at different salons couldn't believe their eyes. When I returned to have it "redone" Sergio was rude and defensive. No warm and fuzzies, not even a "please sit down". He agreed to redo the color, then argued with me about the cut, with a salon full of customers watching. He became exasperated, at one point flicking my hair, saying sarcastically "you can't come in here without styling your hair and expect me to fix it!" I was then marched to the front desk and offered another stylist, or a refund, because he didn't want to deal with it anymore. I was shaken at this sudden, aggressive confrontation. The manager Melanie didn't care. I was not taken to one side and ask what had happened. I had to discuss things with her in front of 2 giggling employees, and 2 customers. Melanie coldly informed me nothing like this had ever happened before, refunded my money, and then ignored me as she dealt with another customer. In the end, I got my refund. I also left in tears after being publicly humiliated. The next day I called and spoke with the owner Eric, about my experience. He said I'd been given my money back, so what else did I want? He defended his arrogant stylist, and rude manager, rather than believing his customer. Even though he wasn't there. At the end of the call he said "have a nice life". The owner forgot one unhappy customer touches 100 more. Hence this glowing review. Should you have a problem with their services, the staff are right, not the customer. You may get your money back, but you'll go through hell in the process. A final note: this expensive salon does not stretch to having a break room for the staff. So while your hair is being cut, 8 staff members cram into a tiny open alcove 4 feet away, talking loudly while they have their lunch. Really relaxing.

I use Citysearch all the time to look for places to eat and good service. When I came across this review I was very surprised, for two reasons. One is this is the salon I go to! The second reason is I have been going there to see Sergio! I really like him, and I my hair is blonde. I am happy with my hair and never leave this salon disappointed.

I made an appointment for a color consultation with Sergio - I have medium brown hair and wanted to go blonder. The front desk associates were friendly (that is the only reason I gave this place a star at all) but Sergio seemed to have made up his mind right away that he did not want to do my hair! I sat down and showed him a picture, explained that I would like it lighter with some blonde highlights for the summer & he told me he couldn't do it - Just to make sure that is what he was saying, I straight-out asked him "so, you're saying you won't do it? or can't do it?" and he said yes! He didn't even try to offer some other options or routes we could go - he actually hardly spoke to me at all! It seemed as if he just did not want me as a customer! Are you kidding?? This is southern california & he's telling me that he can't give me blonder hair?!? and then he leaves me, walks up to the front desk (without saying anything). I finally get up and follow him, and he says "bye" - like basically telling me to get out! How DARE I ask for blonder hair in Southern California!! What kind of a salon employs stylists with that kind of attitude?? Maybe the customer is not always right, but you don't have to be rude to them, and you certainly don't push people out the door - how do they get any business?? The other stylists must be nicer (hopefully)! There are so many nice places around here that will treat you like they WANT your business and do a fabulous job - I wouldn't step foot in here again! And if you decide to go to this salon after reading this - at least do not get put with SERGIO!

I had wonderful services. I would love to go again soon. The deep conditioning treatment was amazing.
