Nice Place. I went to Arterra for a business dinner in May. A fixed menu was offered, and it was very good. From starters to desserts, the food was fantastic, especially the ribs! The restaurant was very classy, the service was impeccable, and it was a very enjoyable experience overall.

Unfortunately, the kitchen closed very early (by 8pm!), and I had wanted to order something off the main menu to take home to my husband. It would have been nice if we had been notified that the kitchen was closing early.

Still, I am looking forward to going back.

What a shame. Arterra used to be our benchmark for San Diego restaurants. Our last meal there will truly be our last. The food, while always expensive, was barely edible. Both meals and the green salad were overboard salty. They have redone the bar area which is nice. I would still recommend the bar for the scrumptious roll and an overpriced drink, but take a pass on the restaurant. For a taste of what the Arterra restaurant used to be try Market.

Bradley Ogden gets local in the Marriott Del Mar with Chino farms produce, sushi and an innovative American wine list.. In Short
The dramatic hand-tiled, exhibition kitchen complete with a sushi-rolling station next to the bar is not exactly what one expects from a hotel restaurant. Then again, neither is an interesting wine list--everything from New Mexico sparklers and a good deal of Paso Robles vintners--and a friendly sommelier to guide diners through it. Arterra has it all, plus a revamped menu focused on California cuisine and seasonal ingredients.

Great dining experience.. Recently dined her and was very impressed. The restaurant has a very elegant and comfortable feel to it. I had a steak while my date had the swordfish. We were both very happy with our meals. They also have an extensive wine list. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a nice place to eat in the del mar area. It is also a change of pace from the downtown restaurants.
