Worst Barbecue Restaurant Ever
by coachspud4 at Citysearch
Easily the worst barbecue food I've ever eaten. The food was cold, fatty, and tasted terrible. The only positive about the restaurant was the Top Gun memorabilia. If you like barbecue, you don't want to eat here.
- Pros: Top Gun memorabilia
- Cons: Everything else

Great loacation & Atmosphere

This was our first visit to California and this eatery was our Saturday evening destination, I had done some research way ahead of our trip, so we would know where to eat on our visit. The Top Gun shoot location really did not steer us towards eating there, but it was the BBQ. Once there, we found it to be small and a bit on the run down side. Lots of tables outside with little umbrella's to shade the diners. Inside it was very cramped, so much so that waitresses almost could not walk around our table to get to the other tables. The service was okay, the food was good and the priced were reasonable. Would we eat there again? Prolly not but for the reason of it being so small of a joint. Womens restroom was big enough for 1 person and was very very busy.
- Pros: Film location, ambience
- Cons: Restrooms were too small, the eatery itself was too small and service could have been more personable
Best place for barbecue! Especially when visiting the finest city.

My sister and I visited the restaurant and it was cool. It's the very same place where the movie, Top Gun, was filmed. I enjoyed the barbecue beef ribs and chicken and they were out of this world. I even liked the potato salad, which is the best I had. The waitresses were very sweet and smiley and the atmosphere is pretty intensed. I wouldn't mind eating there again if I happened to be visiting, especially for a convention. I highly recommended to my friends and family.
- Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere, Price
- Cons: Bathroom

Very small, a neat dump in a classic way. When I was there it seemed like a local group of regulars. Great service and great ribs and beer. Enjoed the experience and will definitely go there the next time I'm in San Diego
- Pros: great place
- Cons: none
Goose's piano is still in the bar
by butrbiscut at Citysearch
We went to KC BBQ during the International Comic-Con. The four of us all had sandwiches and sat outside. The food was good but the portions could have been a little larger. It's cool to go inside and see the paino Goose played in the bar scene with his wife, kids and Maverick from "Top Gun". We weren't real impressed with the BBQ, but we'd go back if we were in the area again.

Scenes for "Top Gun" were filmed here, but the savory ribs and memorabilia-filled dining room elevate it to legendary status.
