Last Night I visited Asti Ristorante for the second time. I was in San Diego for pleasure and work. I was truly impressed with service and the food at Asti. From the very professinal and attractive Hostess to the table service, the food and the ambiance. Our Server was a young man Silvio from Palermo. The service was perfect and our meal wonderful. We ordered Chilean Sea Bass for my wife and Surf and Turf for myself that was just incredible. The Wine List is well priced and match with extensive variety of Italian and California Wine. The beautiful mural of Palio de Asti and the celebrity pictures in the wall definently makes Asti even more charming. Asti is the best Italian Restaurant in San Diego without a doubt! We Recomend Asti for everyone that enjoys the true Italian Food and Service! Grazie Asti Ristorante!

Pros: Food, Service and Ambiance

I'm from New York City and this restaurant is expensive even for that. The food is fine quality, nothing's wrong with it, but it's also nothing special. Entrees are between $20 and $40 and portions are small to medium. My friend paid $35 for a TINY plate of ravioli. Also, they tried to rip us off with our salads, asking "which salad" we'd like after we ordered each entree as if the salad was included, in fact it was $10 per salad. Find somewhere else to go in SD.

Pros: Food is fine, atmosphere is nice

Cons: Expenisive, tried to rip us off, small portions

Last night my wie and I went to Asti Ristorante on the Gaslamp Quarter and we had a wonderful experience. A server called Mark helped us to decide the dishes and a bottle of good wine. I chose a Surf and Turf and my wife a Sea Bass plate. Everything was incredible, from the ambiance to presentation and of course the food. i strongly recommend it ! Enso

Pros: Service, Ambiance, Food

Cons: too much good plates

Asti is definitely a highlight when I visit San Diego. Great service, location and a cozy patio out front, so you can watch the world go by. I've always ordered their special. Once it was crab and linguine in a spicy red sauce. It was so good, I ate the leftovers cold for breakfast the next day! The next time, I had Linguine with a spicy red sauce topped with a giant prawn that could've passed for a small lobster. It's definitely the best place in The Gaslamp that I have visited.

Pros: food, service, ambiance

Cons: often busy

Among many average restaurants in the Gas Lamp Quarters, Asti Ristorante stands out. I have dined here on a couple of occasions, and the quality of food and service (and comparable prices) makes the dinning decision making easy when walking down 5th street. You probably won't get more for your money considering the overpriced tourist traps nearby.

Pros: service, prices, food
