Poor service, blase food, tourist magnet

We live downtown and have tried Jimmy Love's several times each year (as far back as when it was Johnny Love's before they had to change their name) , but after our last visit last week we are unlikely to return. We try to support locally owned businesses, but as years have passed, the service has deteriorated, the food become sub-standard and the attitude more about who else they can squeeze in and get to buy the most drinks. We are all for making a profit - but not at the expense of selling out. The place has lost any class that it had. Service is slow - took 20 minutes just to get a menu. In a party of 4, 3 of the orders (simple on-menu items) were wrong and we were only able to get one completely corrected after nearly 40 minutes. The items that we were served were not of high quality relative to the prices charged, and two of them were so salty they were barely edible. We saw the owner and asked to speak to him - he ignored us (too busy cozying up - VERY close - to a young blonde at the bar - wonder if his wife and kids were at home?). The manager spent about 2 minutes talking to us but did nothing to correct the problem. We decided to leave and when our bill arrived there were several drinks on it that were not ours. Spent another 15 minutes trying to get the bill corrected - no apology, just attitude. If you want to be treated poorly and pay for low-quality food, this is your place. Otherwise, try one of the many other locally owned, independent restaurants in the Gaslamp. Please do NOT judge the Gaslamp by Jimmy Love's!!

Great Food, Service, and Night Life

I don't understand how anyone could say anything bad about Jimmy Love's! Jimmy Love's is like the heartbeat of the gaslamp. It doesn't matter where I have lived; whenever I am in the neighborhood I love to venture to Jimmy's where the asmosphere is always comfortable, the staff is friendly, and the night life is amazing. I love hanging out with my friends and dancing to all the songs that EVERYONE knows. Just last weekend my girlfirend had her 24th birthday bash there... what a blast! Thanks Jimmy Love's....for being the best bar in all of downtown San Diego! You can bet I...I mean WE will be back!

HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!

THE SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE! MY GIRLFRIEND AND I WENT OUT FOR A DRINK AND THE WAITRESS DID NOT COME SERVE US UNTIL ABOUT 30 MIN. LATER THEN ONCE WE ORDERED SHE ONLY CAME BACK WITH ONE DRINK STSATIN THAT MY FRIEND DID NOT ORDER A DRINK WHICH WAS A TOTAL LIE! SO SHE KIND OF GOT AN ATTITUDE, MAYBE SHE WAS ALREADY IN A BAD MOOD BU THEN SHE CALLED MY FRIEND OUT OF HER NAME...WHICH MADE MY FRIEND UPSET AND THE MANAGER CAME OVER AND HIS ATTITUDE WAS EVEN WORSE THAN HERS. WE NEVER GOT OUR DRINKS JUST A GLASS OF WATER THEN AFTER SPEAKING TO HIM HE SUGGESTED THAT WE JUST GO TO ANOTHER RESTARAUNT I FELT HORRIBLE HE BASICALLY PUT US OUT FOR WHAT? WE ASKED HIM WHY DO WE HAVE TO LEAVE HE STATED THAT HE IS RUFUSING US SERVICE AND TOOK OUR WATERS BACK (WOW).. NO APOLOGY FOR THE WAITRESS WITH NO CUSTOMER SERVICE BECAUSE THE MANAGER WAS JUST AS BAD.. VERY EMBARRASSING IF YOU HAVE GUEST I WILL NEVER DINE THERE AGAIN.. NEVER! NO CLASS AT ALL!!!!!!A BUNCH OF NO CLASS WAITRESSES AND SUPERVISORS SOUND ABOU RIGHT IN THE CHAIN OF COMMAND IN THE BUSINESS WORLD!

AMAZING DINNER, SERVICE, AND LIVE ENTERTAINMENT

This was one of the best nights I had out in a long time! My boyfriend and I went for an early dinner. We were pleased to learn that there would be live Jazz Entertainment. We ordered the artichoke dip for an appetizer (which was amazing!) and I had the New York Steak and my boyfriend had the surf & turf (both delicious!). A couple drinks and dessert later we were shocked that for such an incredibly delicious dinner our bill was not even a hundred dollars! Our service was excellent and our server even convinced us to stay later for the DJ when the band ended. We danced the night away to 80s music and are still smiling days later at what a great night out we had. Thanks Jimmy Love's...we WILL be back!

most horrible customer service

I was there for dinner on Saturday 4/21/07 (absolutely not a crowded/packed night) and will never go back again. I have never experienced such horrendous service at any restaurant. We sat down around 7:30pm, and the waitress came around to take our order shortly afterwards. At 8:45pm, the only things on our table was one glass of water per person and one basket of bread, which by now all the bread was already gone obviously. The last time we saw our waitress at all, was when she came by to take our order at 7:40pm. I think if the food was going to take forever, she should have at least come by to apologize so that at least we wouldn?t be sitting there wondering whether or not we should leave. Then about 10 minutes later the food finally comes. We finished about 9:20pm, and asked the waitress for the check, but we didn?t actually get it until 20 minutes later. So now that we have the check, we?re ready to pay and get out of here. But no one wanted to take the payment. So it was getting really close to 10pm already and we decided to just ask whoever comes by next, and so the lady we asked said we need to give that to our waitress but we told her our waitress didn?t want to take care of it because she passed by like 10 times but still didn?t take it. So she gave us arguing with us and took it and when the waitress brought it back finally for us to sign the credit card slip, she didn?t even apologize for what she did and just pretended like nothing happened. I don?t know if she was just blind or what, but this kind of service is absolutely unacceptable for any restaurant.
