Romantic, excellent service, great food
by pashentz
My husband and I have been to de Medici's several times, each time better than the last. Everything is freshly prepared, the wine list is superb, the staff is amazing.
I read a review that said everything to the contrary of what I experienced, but I'd like to state that they DO NOT use bottled caesar salad dressing, that the food is exceptionally prepared, and as far as authenticity, the food is as good as anything I've eaten in Rome, Venice or Florence.
The ambience is exceptional, as well.
For a wonderful eating experience, try the Steak Dianne. It's remarkable.
I'd recommend it to anyone that appreciates fine dining and beautiful surroundings.
- Pros: Food, service, ambience
- Cons: None at all
de hype not de food
by boomchikiboom
De Medici is a very romantic and ambiance rich restaurant. The service is good and the price is not too expensive. but the food is sub-par. If you are going to adopt the name De Medici then you had better step to the plate in quality and authenticity. If you remember from Art History, De Medici was a very rich family that financed the Italian Renissance. They are responsible for many great sculptures and art work. However the restaurant is only good for looks, not substance. The food is far from authentic. The Alfredo sauce is made with SOUR CREAM. The chicken and Cappers is made with bottled lemon juice. The cesear dressing is made from kraft, mine was not made table side. Maybe i have more offence with them taking the name De Medici when the restaurant is all hype. Their food is more southern Californian Italian than historic Italian. Over all if you are looking to impress your date: great place.
- Pros: Lighting, Location, Service
- Cons: Food authenticity

Elegant Renaissance decor is the perfect complement to Northern and Southern Italian specialties with an emphasis on seafood.
The Best in San Diego
by tombenzing
The service is the best in San Diego.
The sea food is always fresh and prepered anyway you want. Ceasar Salad prepared from scratch tableside. The best Alfedo Sauce anywhere. Veal Chops & Osso Buca unbealviable. Crystal wine glasses. Flaming Bannas Foster for desert. It dosen't get any better. We are locals, along with many others who are there on a regular basis.
