BEST OF SAN DIEGO!!!
by CA2NY at Citysearch
I was born and raised in San Diego and I have yet to go to a better breakfast spot. Love their lunches too! Delish turkey sausage! Huge man-hole size pancakes with fun original flavors like captain crunch, perfect eggs and breakfast potatoes!!! YUM YUM YUM!!! For lunch the burrito is HUGE and scrumptious! The tuna melt is the best I've had.. and so is the mac and cheese- very creamy and decadent! This place is the BEST!!!
- Pros: EVERYTHING!!
- Cons: you'll crave it all the time!
Fabulous

Visited San Diego around Labor Day and stayed near the Park. Kept driving one morning because it looked like it might be too long to get seated. How happy we were that we decided to give it another try the next day. Yummy! Porridge? I haven't heard of that since Goldilocks and The Three Bears. It was, as the title says, fabulous! Hearty, healthy, with many flavors meshed together. Not too sweet, beautifully presented and enough for two meals....like the pancake, which filled the WHOLE plate. I can't ever remember asking for a "breakfast doggie bag". It was just as good the next morning. Every bite was savored. The service was also outstanding. Hope the delivery was easy and all is well with the baby. !!Highly recommend!!
- Pros: The food.
- Cons: May have to wait if you're not there first.
Delicious fresh tasting food, wonderful customer service, and great atmosphere.

Table for four and all four satisfied! Our diner was DELICIOUS to say the least. I had the New York Steak with Gorgonzola. It came with my favorite Garlic Mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. The potatoes were rich and creamy with just the right amount of garlic and the garnish was a very nice touch. My Veggies were stemmed but not limp or soggy and very flavorful.
On my next visit I plan on having the Turkey Burger. It was smothered with mushrooms and had a spicy-mayo. Can't wait.
I liked that my Corona came with a chilled mug. The rest of the party ordered wine, tasting was allowed. The water is served in mason jars again nice touch.
I've always drank out of mason jars after I've d finished the delicious jelly, jam or canned peaches my mom has made.
Our waitress was friendly, outgoing and attentive.
By the way this is my first review-the food was so good I was compelled to share it with San Diego.
Happy Eats,
Canela.
- Pros: Two Thumbs up!
Yummy fresh food, huge portions!

Dined here with a few friends for brunch on Saturday. We were amazed at the portions and the extensive, unique menu. They seemed to have a lot of 'comfort food', which I love. My friend had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes (so good), I had a soup (huge portion) and spinach salad. My other friend also enjoyed their dishes. I would definitely recommend this place. They had something for everyone on the menu and everything was very fresh and presented well. My only complaint would be the server had a bit of an attitude with us. Otherwise, food outweighed any of that nonsense.
- Pros: Food, Portions
- Cons: Parking
Perfect neighborhood cafe!

My husband and I had just gotten to our hotel and wanted a close place to eat. We decided on this place based on CitySearch reviews. The food was fantastic and plentiful with moderate prices. The service was excellent! The homemade Kahlua cheesecake was the best I've ever had. This was a fantastic experience and one of the most memorable from our vacation. We'd do it again in a second!
- Pros: food, service, location
- Cons: huge portions

In Short
Exposed concrete and bright yellow walls set a warm vibe at Hillcrest's version of a greasy spoon. Pieces of artwork from local visionaries reflect the spirit of the community. A deli-style cooler advertises wines and sodas, while a full bar is available for those craving mimosas or after-work cocktails. Young hipsters fill the few light oak tables on evenings and weekends, chowing down on crab cakes Benedict and rock shrimp tacos.
Best for American Cuisine, Breakfast, lunch or dinner!

This has been my favorite place to hang out for over 10 years. Andy, the owner and staff make everyone feel at home at Cafe On Park and the food is excellent. You will not leave hungry. Many people dont seem to know that they have an awesome dinner menu and the food is just delicious! This is your neighborhood eatery and it is awesome, clean, fun to dine at and a great place for private parties or group events!
- Pros: Opens early!
