Uh oh

I've had better Thai food at a mall food court. The food was cheap, quick, and the service was good. However, the actual food was bland at best. I ordered the Eslam -Spicy Noodle with chicken, if that is what you want to call the 6 tiny pieces of white meat with no flavor they gave us. It tasted like chicken broth and the "spicy" was only a tiny plastic ramekin with hot peppers I'm assuming they wanted us to put in the dish ourselves.
Same deal with the Spicy Drunken Noodles with Chicken, no flavor and no "spicy". They only thing we ordered that resembled Thai food was the red curry, and I had to add fish sauce to that to give it some flavor.
If you want bland small portions this is the place to go. Make sure to get a side of peanut sauce and sarracha so you can drown your food in it for some flavor. YUCK!
- Pros: Quick
- Cons: Bland, small portions
Really Bad Thai Food

I simply love Thai food, but the food at Saffron was the worst I've ever had. We ordered the Thai barbecue chicken, spicy beef panang, stir-fried vegetables and the shrimp Pad Thai. The supposed Thai barbecue chicken was uninspiring; it was merely roasted chicken that completely lacked seasoning. There was nothing Thai about it. Panang is my favorite curry dish. This beef panang dish was simply a travesty and a disgrace. It reminded me of day old beef stew that you would find at any American high school cafeteria with a little bit of spice thrown in. The stir-fried vegetables were remarkably tasteless. I was immediately suspicious of the pad thai when I saw the small cocktail shrimp interspersed through the dry, tasteless noodles. The pad thai was not memorable at all. Overall, the meal was extremely disappointing, lacked authenticity, and it was relatively pricey for the quality ($31+ for our meal). If you are a lover of Thai food, authentic or not, I think you will be very disappointed as I was.
One of the best in San Diego!

Inside this simple, unpretentious restaurant at the foot of Mission Hills is some of the best Thai food in all of San Diego. The place not lavish, although there's lots of artwork displayed from the owner's husband. Nevertheless, the food is made is much care and attention. The Pad Thai is top-notch as well as the Drunken Noodles. Their barbeque Thai Chicken is the specialty of the house and highly recommended. And because the restaurant is informal, it's nice to be able to find great Thai food without having to get dressed up. Or to grab a quick bite late at night. The only drawback is the wait in line can be quite long, especially at lunchtime and on weekend nights. Parking can also be hard to find along India Street. All in all though, you won't be disappointed!
- Pros: Fantastic Thai food! Fair value. Good atmosphere
- Cons: Parking is scarce.
