WORST customer Service EVER

by jmon222222kdjhow

1st time at the bar this weekend. Came with a group of 15+ and thought "hey, this little place is pretty cool". After 45 minutes of drinks and partying we realized the male bartenders and fat BOUNCER were not friendly what so ever. The overweight White male bouncer w/bald head and red facial hair was a complete jack a$$. Kicking people out for no justifiable reasoning (starting with our DD!) being rude to females, not allowing birthday party guests in becuase they "weren't on a list" even though there was no line. Actually left the bar to eat at the taco shop where another party was JUST COMPLAINING about the poor service, rude staff and worthless attitudes. My girlfriend actually asked for an Itemized receipt and was then called "a B"tch" after doing so from the male bartendar (just before they kicked her out) for having "a bad attitude"

Please refrain from going to this joint. The manager was the only worthwhile person to chat with (after I had to make a formal complaint) about his staff. TOO BAD becuase this place could be a cool local hangout but myself and the 14 other people who attended will make sure to spread the negative word.

BUST BUST BUST.

  • Pros: I thought it would be cool
  • Cons: Awful service from male staff /BOUNCERS

Great Music

by SanClem

This is a great little bar for the underground music listener. The DJ was insanely good and played everything from hip hop to reggae. The bar tenders were on top of the game, and I found out that you tip them a little they give you a lot! Definetly a great place for groups. The only downside is that it's very small, and there isn't anything near this place within walking distance.

  • Pros: Music
  • Cons: Small room

Bar Dynamite

by 80sgirl

This is the place to be if you don't want to spend a whole lot like you would normally do in Downtown. I love this place, Fridays and Saturdays are awesome. The music is really good, you got your old school hip hop, a little rap and your funk. This place is chill did I mention the drinks are cheap and there is a $5.00 cover charge after 10pm. Bar Dynamite is a little small but the people are great the music is the bomb and every one has a great time, so if you like old school beats and don't want to deal with the long lines in downtown and the expensive drinks make sure to check out Bar D

Scary Land

by thoss

the girls and i were looking for a "below radar" club one fine friday evening. someone mentioned bar dynamite. we went to check it out. oh my god! i felt like i was at a homeless convention. the men in this bar actually smelled like they lived on the streets. not to mention what they were wearing. the bartender was so rude to us. all we ordered were beers and shots and he acted like we ordered foo foo blender drinks. you would think a bartender would want 4 pretty blondes at their bar. maybe this place is for homosexuals. who knows. the music was good but it was so loud that my ear drums tickled the whole time. we had to leave it was way too loud for such a tiny, tiny space. but mostly the people were old and very creepy for us 35-40 y.o. single gals.

  • Pros: music decent but way too loud
  • Cons: people smelly and scarey

Crowd has deep-sixed this place

by onthercks07

I've been in SD for a while and I always considered Bar Dynamite to be a wild card. The music is generally always decent but the crowd is all over the place. I'm afraid that recently, I discovered that the crowd is just, how can I describe it - WEIRD. It's a combination of 40+-50 yr old people (do you like bumping into your 5th grade teacher?), some young adults, wanna-be thugs, etc. Basically, a single, young adult's worst nightmare. Tack on a 5 dollar cover charge and this place is now first on my "DO NOT GO HERE AT ALL COSTS" list. Go at your own peril!

  • Pros: Still a cool location and ambiance, decent music
  • Cons: crowd, crowd, crowd....yikes

DJs spin nightly at this Mission Hills bar/club, an off-beat alternative to the downtown and PB club scenes.

by Maren Dougherty

In Short
Set in an area west of Hillcrest known as Middletown, the club occupies a secluded location and nightlife niche. With DJs spinning hip-hop, dance, pop and reggae tracks every night of the week, the red booths and dance floor are often packed. The small spot attracts a crowd that's higher on edge and lower on swank than Gaslamp clubs. Its remoteness makes bar-hopping a challenge, so plan to stay at Bar Dynamite all night long.

Saturday nights with DJ Ratty (s)

by mariogirl

rules old skool Hip Hop and underground sound...it's small and gets hot, but that's how you know the music is good-Everyone is dancing! The crowd is also a real nice mix-not too bougeois, punk, old or young. And there is always good looking guys and girls. I actually met my fiancee there!

  • Pros: cover is low but get to know people and you prob won't have to pay at all
  • Cons: small, hot, loud

Small joint with a lot to offer.

by rdfusn

Bar Dynamite is a small joint close to the airport that is a must stop. The bar is hard to see during the day, nestled between a taco shop and a liquer store, but a can't miss at night due to the crowd outside. Friday and Saturday night usually have a little of a wait to get in, but well worth it. With a low red light glow and big red booths, the bar gives a New York lounge appeal. Layback in the booths, mingle with the crowd, or rub-up a little on the dance floor to a variety of music such as hip-hop, R&B, reggae, and electronic grooves.
