DON'T BOTHER

by ecshane

I AM 27 YEARS OLD AND HAVE WORKED IN THE SERVICE INDUSTRY FOR YEARS, SO I’M NOT A STRANGER TO HANDLING THE PUBLIC. I HAVE NEVER TREATED ANYONE WITH SUCH DISRESPECT AS I EXPERIENCED ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT. I ACTUALLY THOUGHT THAT TO ENSURE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION AND TO KEEP PEOPLE COMING BACK YOU HAVE TO ACTUALLY BE CORDIAL. WHAT A CONCEPT.

THIS WAS OUR FIRST TIME TO IN CAHOOTS AND I WAS TRYING TO GET MY FRIENDS INTERESTED IN LINE DANCING AND TO ENJOY THE MUSIC AND THE TYPICALLY FUN AND MELLOW ATMOSPHERE OF A COUNTRY BAR. ANY CHANCE OF THAT WAS COMPLETELY RUINED BY ONE OF THEIR STAFF MEMBERS THAT WAS PATROLING THE LINE. I AM DISSAPPOINTED IN MYSELF FOR NOT GETTING HIS NAME, BUT HE WAS AN OLDER, HEAVY-SET MAN. HE WAS EXTREMELY INAPPROPRIATE AND NOT ONLY YELLED ME AND MY GROUP OF FRIENDS, BUT BELITTLED AND HUMILIATED ALL OF US. I’M A WESTERN GIRL AT HEART AND ADMIRE THE GOOD ‘OL COWBOY STYLE THAT USUALLY CONSISTS OF OLD FASHIONED GENTLEMAN-LIKE QUALITIES. THIS MAN WAS RUDE, IMPOLITE, YELLED SO LOUD THAT HE WAS SPITTING, AND ALL OVER A VERY INSIGNIFICANT ISSUE.

I WAS IN LINE WITH MY BOYFRIEND AND MY BEST FRIEND AND HER BOYFRIEND, PLANNING TO MEET TWO OTHER FRIENDS THAT WERE ALREADY INSIDE. UPON SEEING THAT THE BOYS IN OUR GROUP WERE WEARING FLIP-FLOPS, A VERY NICE YOUNGER MAN CAME UP AND INFORMED THEM THAT THEY HAD TO HAVE CLOSE-TOED SHOES ON TO GET IN. LUCKILY MY BOYFRIEND HAD A PAIR OF RUNNING SHOES AND A PAIR OF DRESS SHOES IN HIS CAR, SO THEY RAN BACK TO PUT THEM ON WHILE MY FRIEND AND I WAITED IN LINE FOR THEM. THEY RETURNED ABOUT THREE MINUTES LATER, GOT BACK IN LINE, ONLY TO HAVE THIS PARTICULAR STAFF MEMBER GET IN MY FACE TO THE POINT I HAD TO BACK UP AND YELL AT US TO GET IN THE BACK OF THE LINE WHICH, AS I’M SURE YOU’RE AWARE, STRETCHES AROUND THE BUILDING AND PARKING LOT. WE WOULD HAVE AGREED TO HIS REQUEST IF HE HADN’T DELIVERED IT IN MANNER SIMILAR TO YELLING AT AN ANIMAL. IF WE HAD BEEN RUDE OR OUTSPOKEN MAYBE HIS ANGER WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE UNDERSTANDABLE, BUT WE WERE JUST TRYING TO FOLLOW THE RULES.

WE PROCEEDED TO LEAVE, CALLED MY FRIENDS INSIDE TO LEAVE WITH US, AND NONE OF US WILL EVER GIVE A PENNY TO ANY OF THEIR VENUES. I LEFT FEELING EMBARASSED AND PLAN TO SHARE MY AWFUL EXPERIENCE WITH ANYONE THAT WILL LISTEN. I TRULY REGRET EVER GETTING IN LINE AND HAVING SUCH HIGH EXPECTATIONS.

I AM AWARE THAT THIS WILL NOT BE A LOSS IN ANY WAY WHATSOEVER TO THEIR COMPANY, SEEING AS THERE WAS AN ENORMOUS LINE, BUT IT DOESN’T CHANGE THE FACT THAT ONE OF THEIR EMPLOYEES RUINED THE NIGHT FOR SIX PEOPLE AND SINGLEHANDEDLY ENCOURAGED US TO NEVER RETURN. AS THE DAUGHTER OF A RESTAURANT OWNER, I CAN ‘T IMAGINE HOW THIS MAN IS STILL EMPLOYED. FOR THE SAKE OF THEIR COMPANY, HE SHOULD BE TERMINATED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE SO AS TO PREVENT MORE DEGRADING AND UNPROFESSIONAL EVENTS FROM HAPPENING IN THE FUTURE.

BOTTOM LINE: DON'T BOTHER.

  • Pros: Made me appreciate every other bar/restuarant/club
  • Cons: Rude & inappropriate staff

They stiff you

by KittyB8201

Some friends and I went to the bar and had an ok time, the drinks were beyond weak but they were cheap. OR so I thought!!! When I got home they had massively over charged all of us. Apparently their minimum is $50 when you use your debt card, not only did they not tell us, but when I called about it the weekend manager was too much of an idiot to fix the problem? or wouldn?t. The club is also freezing unless you are line dancing the whole time, and don?t think that you?ll get warm by drinking, after three jack and cokes I wasn?t even buzzed. Not sure but I think they water down their alcohol, because its hard to hide the taste of whiskey and I couldn't taste anything. I paid $50 for coke!

Great if the drive to temecuala stampede is too long

by eddiechopp

this place is great if you dont have the motivation to drive ALL the way up to temecula stampede on friday and saterday nights. ON wensdays this place is hopping with college girls. the music is alright. ALOT OF SLOW SONGS I THINK. one day i saw that not alot of people where not dancing becuase they where playing back to back to back old slow songs. i went to the dj and recomended some good popular country songs and brought the dance floor back to life. the dj need to research some popular new country to get the young people back on the dance floor. the atmosphere is great with all these country stuff on the walls and its kinda tight knit so people have to interact with each other. lol ive been here on wensdays 5 times now and all i can say is drinks are cheap and dont get an open tab becuase you will drink to much and the bouncers will kick you out if you miss a step going down stairs or look wobbley. ive been kicked out 3 times on wensdays when i get a little to LIT. they are not mean they will just tell you " you had a little bit to drink and should step outside the bar for a while and then come back in when you sober up a little bit. then those 3 front door bouncers are looking at you lean drunkly on the patio and the probley wont let you back in because YOU realized you got way to drunk and wobble over to them to let you back in. ITs a bummer being kicked out. the dance floor is small compared to stampede but you make due. the place is a really nice place.

  • Pros: Drink specials, atmosphere, wensday nights, service
  • Cons: dont open tab, strict in club bouncers, dj is bad at picking songs sometimes, small dance floor

If you're an overseas visitor you must come here!

by onlyvisitin

Interesting 'saloon' decor-but with a modern feel, great 'American Country' atmosphere (and no - you dont have to wear Western gear as I had assumed). I have always wanted to have a go at line dancing and this was the place to try it. It was a little difficult to follow the instructor as you cant always see, but others who know the steps seem happy to help out. Be prepared to be out of your comfort zone when the music starts as you lose your steps, but stick with it - you'll have a jolly good laugh and have a really good time. The menu was what I imagined to be typically American, no disappointment there either as my burger and beer was great. There was a turkey dinner on offer, but we were all fed up of turkey from Thanksgiving dinner so beef/pork would have been a better option. My only regret is that I dont live here and can't make In Cahoots my second home!

One of the last Country Dance Bars in San Diego... and certainly the best.

by srodgers71

Low priced drinks, friendly and courteous staff, a fun and safe atmosphere! Thats what you find at InCahoots. I may be biased because I used to work there, but I was a regular there long before that. Its my first choice on a night out. If you into Line Dancing, 2 stepping, or just want to step out for an Ice Cold Beer... don't take my word for it, get yer butt down there and check it out for yourself. Wednesday are KSON night (by far the busiest night, and mostly a college crowd)... Fridays and Saturdays are not quite as slammed, but still plenty busy. A very Patriotic bar, the flag comes down and the hats come off during the patriotic songs (I'm former military myself, so this means a lot to me). Check out their website, at Incahoots dot com for more info, Line Dance and free dance lesson schedules etc... like they say, its the most fun you can have with yer boots on :)

  • Pros: great drink prices, lots of free parking, free dance lessons, huge outdoor patio
  • Cons: cover charge (tho not as high as you'd pay downtown).

From cowboys to frat boys, everyone gets in line (dancing) here, the heart of San Diego's country scene.

by Erin Chambers

In Short
Get ready to get rowdy upon entrance to Mission Valley's hip, western dance club. Sure, there's food, a patio and a few pool tables, but it's the dance floor that steals the show. Full of tappin' boots and twirling skirts, the sunken wood floor leaves nothing to the imagination when it comes to line dancing. Spectators look down from all four sides, as dancers--partiers, really--switch from the two-step, to the electric slide, to the boot-scoot-boogie.
